For the #5 pick? That's Quinton BYEfield to the Kings now.
Edit: Hawks are not likely moving Jones now that they have Bedard

Rangers don't even consider that trade offer. The only reason to trade Goodrow is to free up cap space, not replace it with an even higher cap hit for an overpaid RW.

I don't understand the Byfield move for either team, especially if there's any real interest in getting PLD. Byfield is another Dach, which isn't at all a bad thing, but the Habs are getting to the point of having gone from no centres to too many, especially if you factor in Beck and, if they can keep him around, Monahan.

You'd have to sweeten the Boeser trade substantially, but you might be able to keep those pieces together and add a draft pick or Ylonen/Struble-level prospect. While I'd hate to see him go, Xhekaj could anchor this deal nicely.

Neither is assuming the rangers would take anderson's absolutely garbage contract, while also giving up a first round pick.
Goodrow's contract is better than andersons.
MTL is the one who needs to pay in that scenario.
Remove the first, mtl retains to balance the contracts, and its an even flip. But the point of these types of trades isn't to find "balance' its to "trade win", which isn't what usually happens in the NHL.

CHI WOULD NOT retain on Jones. The return isn't great, but if both he and CHI want a trade, that is probably as good as we could expect. Only problem is he won't waive for MTL. I think he is in CHI for the long haul unless COL or DAL want him at some point during the remainder of his contract and CHI has the need to move him, or if he forces a trade, but he is a pretty chill guy who I can't really see raising a stink about anything like that.

I disagree with your view of what constitutes a "win" in a trade. The Habs and Rangers need different things at this point. The Rangers were showing signs of being a decent team but aren't really ready to beat the Hurricanes, nor the Devils. Do I think they need to move Goodrow? But I think he's a bottom-6 forward. Anderson is more of a middle-6, capable of playing up and down the roster. If the Rangers re-sign Kane, this is a moot question, because Anderson becomes redundant and Goodrow remains a fixture lower down the roster. If Kane isn't back, then Anderson is a good option that helps the Rangers to overcome bigger, faster teams.

Given the team needs, Goodrow for Anderson would be great, even up, assuming Kane doesn't stay with the Rangers. Otherwise, it's a non-starter.

Others have covered all the bases on the trade so I will draw attention to something else: seems to be a trend w/ a lot of ACGMs where they use playing w/Bedard as extra motivation to get others to agree to the trade they lay out. Kid is (presumably) going to be awesome. He will have many different wingers over his career. Finding him wingers that fit well will not be a problem.Make sure the value works, KD, LR & co. will handle his line mates. Ok, I will stand down from my soapbox now.

Right? It's funny how people want to both send us their scraps and cap dumps, but then proclaim that CHI needs them, as if what we already have in CHI is worse than their injury prone undersized underperforming cap dumps...
