Erne, Cole, Lucic, Stone, Gelndening are not very good hockey players. Hope you aren’t trying to make the playoffs.

ian cole is still a decent top 4 dmen. glendenning is the perfect 4th line center. strong on draws, physical with a good 2 way game. good PK, erne is a decent 4th line player. good forecheck and physical. what you expect from a 4th line player. lucic is there to fight and stone is a reliable #7

3rd and 4th lines dont have to play much..they are solid defensively which ,eans they wont hurt you and they are cheap which means we can actually sign them. I have np with this roster overall..signings are reasonable (to what they will be getting imo)
and as for Playoffs I think the core can carry them there with their eyes closed. Trick is will Sammy pull a Rick Astley and be a 1 hit wonder...for me he flops too much..but keenan said the same about Hasek in chicago..so we just never know...only guys I dont like here are Stone and Cole (especially at that price)

money is high but very shorterm. we dont have to hand him term due to his age, hes a reliable two-way dmen and still very capable

The problem in every playoff loss with this core is lack of scoring in tight games. 10 goals in 5 games vs panthers. You honestly think this lineup - with the FAs you signed - is going to help with that? Sure we’re tougher but doesn’t look like we’re any better, maybe worse

why are we built around a core that cant carry us then? we should 100% have enough goals to win playoff games. im starting to think that keefe isnt the coach for this team. i personally would break up the core. but i dont think thats what the leafs want to do. so im building accordingly

Your of the camp that our high gunners wouldnt do better with more room provided to them with these additions?

Too late, the team - like it or not - has been built around the core 5 (adding Reilly into the mix). Trade any now and you inevitably lose the trade; at least that’s my opinion. I think we have to sign a few key FAs so that we can build a 3rd line that can score - I’d even put Nylander on 3rd line and tell him to stuff it. 4th line for checking / hitting / grinding no problem but 3rd line has to chip in with goals consistently .

I got no problem with adding toughness (someone needed to deal with Bennet and Gudas - they were running all of our guys all series long) but this is too much imo. Domi is a start and I’d add one more FA forward that can score but there is no perfect candidate given the money we have available - maybe Monaghan (injury risk), Conor Briwn (coming off injury), Gus nyquist (is he too old?)… can we trade for someone, but I don’t want to give up our 1st - strong draft and we have very few prospects coming.

I dont like monahan for the reasons you mentioned
Id risk it for Brown or Gus though.

3rd and 4th lines are built for the playoffs. Look at Vegas.

Ian Cole was the Lightning’s worst dman last year. He struggled badly in the playoffs.
