As soon as you ask for Gaucher it's an instant no

None of our young core, first round picks from the last five years (minus Brayden Tracey+Jacob Perreault), or next three years first round picks available

I'm not trading Hart to OTT if both Brannstrom and a 1st are included. I think a good package would be

Hart

for

Brannstrom

I would've added more but every time you do with a goalie, you get the same old, you'll never get that haul for a goalie ****. Blah Blah Blah. This is at least in the ballpark, but obv not fair value on both sides.

Remove Brannstrom and I'd do it. Not really interested in trading Brannstrom as his value is back on the rise.

1st + 2nd + 4th is the absolute MAX I'd go for Hart

I wouldn't mind exploring the million other options if it doesn't work.

You didn't notice the 6 years? That would be banking on his potential but there's absolutely no need to do that. Bridge him 2 years and then sign him long term. He's not going to put huge numbers the next 2 seasons because there's many guys in front of him for offensive situations (PP, etc)

Easy PASS actually

Brannstrom is actually pretty good at this thing called hockey

Lol Brannstrom is barely a bottom pairing D. He is under sized, and constantly gets hit off the puck. 4 goals in almost 200 career games as well, so much for offensive defenseman.

- NO to re-signing Watson and Hamonic to these contracts. I could "live" with 1 year for Hamonic.

- No need to go long term with Pinto, he's not at risk to put huge numbers. If he'd take 8 years x 4.0 I'd do it but it rarely happens like that

Not interested in that trade with Anaheim. Ottawa needs to start winning now, so not going to trade DeBrincat and Brannstrom for Vatrano and futures. Vatrano + 3rd has little value in return for them

Ducks fans can be high on Gaucher and Colangelo all they want but it doesn't come EVEN CLOSE to DeBrincat + Brannstrom value

See what I was saying? No clue about other team's players. He's not an offensive D-man at all.

I literally am a Sens fan; you have no idea what you are talking about. Yeah clearly, he isn't an offensive d-man because he has no offensive upside, but when we traded Stone for him everyone was raving about how he was the next EK65 and was offensive. Branny is terrible man, there isn't much else to say.

That last part, could go both ways. If OTT wants a 24 year old franchise goalie who continuously carries bad teams and has over 200 games under his belt already, you'll have to pay more than a 1st, 2nd, and 4th. You may be the only one who wouldn't easily accept that offer, so that doesn't say much there about you not valuing other teams players correctly either.

Franchise goalies don't grow on tress, but I am pretty sure I shared on another post here, that goalies usually don't get the haul they deserve, which is why trading goalies of Hart's ilk is so rare.

OTT can keep the 1st and the rest of the trash and struggle to find consistency in the net for the next 10 years. Forsberg isn't the answer obv and nothing in your system shows any promise either. Maybe Sogaard can turn into something but he didn't look necessarily good this year either.

How many games have you watched seriously? Most hardcore Sens fans I know have found Brannstrom pretty excellent this season

He's not an OFD because he's a puck mover who has been developing his 2-way game and is very strong in transition, which is why his defensive game is good. He moves the pucks swiftly and smartly

lol when someone is talking about the related trade where the player in question was acquired (like if it was an argument?) in a 58 words reply, you know immediately the bias is very strong regarding the player.

I'll just copy/paste what I said elsewhere :

Pierre Dorion incompetency has nothing to do with Brannstrom now. Dorion destroyed his hand with that 1 year extension leading to UFA and had to take the best return he could for Mark Stone who didn't want to sign an extension with a lot of teams... What he said in the medias raving up about Brannstrom was to save face.

Some people got fooled by what he said in the medias and still have a biased view of Brannstrom because of Dorion's fiasco #33 but Brannstrom has been developing really well and is becoming very good quality

I have been goalie for 30+ years. I am pretty good at evaluating hockey players in general (used to make easy money with hockey cards when I had time) but especially goalies. I was basically the only one calling Andrew Hammond a "flash in the pan" during his historic "hamburglar run" with 20-1-2 record and a 0.941 SV%. People thought I was crazy

Carter Hart is good but not to the point that he commands one of the biggest return ever for a goalie? Well, that's what I have seen countless times already lol

The offer in the OP is not very good (Boucher has 3rd round pick value, Thomson 2nd, Forsberg is good but is quite older and doesn't have the same pedigree)

So again, 1st + 2nd + 4th (could be a 3rd who cares) is the max I'd pay. Don't see any reason to pay more. I would then go see for Hellebuyck or Gibson if then

Last time they were competitive, they had a pretty good goalie in Anderson who played 9+ seasons for them.

I'm all for keeping Forsberg for now too, there's always a risk after injuries but indications are that he'll be back at 100%. But he'll need better assistance than Talbot. Too bad we have an ignorant GM who traded gave away Gustavsson... lol I was initially higher on Kevin Mandolese after watching them at the Sens rookie camp in 2018. But in 2020-21, I did a complete 180 on Gus as he finally figured it out. He was exposed the following year (like every goalie who has played for Ottawa the last 6 years, which isn't surprising under Dorion and DJ Smith) so they thought he was not that good... Sigh.

Sogaard got exposed too, but he has shown flashes of dominance at both AHL and NHL levels already. He's still pretty young. Same for Merilainen who dominated in the Liiga and looked pretty good in his short AHL/NHL experience.

I'm good with these 2 guys for now. I'd continue to draft some goalies in later rounds. Like I said, so many options on the goalie market (and well, there's only 64 spots to fill, compared to skaters)... I prioritize the way my team plays in front of the goalie than having the most recognizable name, that's for the average fan.

Apologies for the very succinct answer, yours is a tough one to follow on an analytical bases. That chart is also from 21-22, not a great year for Hart. I would suspect his 22-23 was better in this regard as he basically stood on his head the first 2 months and actually had the Flyers off to a 6-2-2 start, which was basically our first nail in the coffin of hoping to be in the Bedard sweepstakes. The winning run in Feb also hurt but I digress.

However, I am not asking for the biggest return EVER for a goalie. But the value to us for what Hart is, compared to what we would get in a trade, is never going to be fair, on either side. Flyers would want a haul, most GM's probably see at as you do, and won't overpay, same as the Flyers wouldn't accept anything less since they don't really need to trade him.

Throwing in the Hockey Canada matter also complicates things. When people were reporting that Hart was next, it was ridiculous even to me, there's almost no way he's moved unless a GM superbly believes in Hart and knocks DB's socks off with an offer. And again, they would only have 8 days to do this because of how much value the PHI FO puts on the 2023 draft and the fact it's their first together to start laying their foundation.

Yeah hart had a positive GSAA last season, only 4.42 but it doesn't mean it's easy to do on a terrible defensive team

Forsberg had -1.77 which was still the best among Sens goalies but not as good as the season before where he was top-12 in the league. That was a Vezina type season because having such great stats on such a bad team defensively was impressive. Ask Cam Talbot how hard it is to play on the Sens. He went from 6.49 in Minnesota the year before to -5.47 GSAA with Ottawa

I see, so he's not really "on the market". It's a different phase then. It's like when the Yotes/people wanted a HAUL for Chychrun but finally it was half of what they expected.

Not saying it is, just saying that Hart is a better goalie than the league thinks, which is fine by me, i don't want to trade nor do i have any interest in losing a franchise goalie after that was our one Achilles heel for more than 20 years.

Unless Arizona comes in with Cooley and 3 firsts, or LA comes in with Brandt Clarke and 3 firsts, etc etc, I am not moving Hart. And as I mentioned, GM's don't give hauls for goalies anyway, so this whole Hart trade talk is moot. It's getting annoying seeing Hart so much on Capfriendly cause Friedmann and the 4th period said a Hart trade was coming. But, that's what ACGM is for I suppose.

Oh I see, honestly I have no idea how these trade talks start because I don't follow any of these rumors... Flyers shouldn't trade Hart, he's young enough to be there when it counts.
