idk how 3 way trades work on this so its Ehlers to Ott, Cat and a 2nd to Sea and Wright to WPG

The value isn't too bad, but Seattle wouldn't trade Wright unless they're getting a 1st or 2nd line center back.

I don't think Seattle would give up Wright for Debrincat, but if they would - the Senators would probably want Wright instead of Ehlers. So a 3-way deal wouldn't be needed.

If you replace Ehlers with Hellebuyck and adjust any pieces accordingly, that would make more sense. A big reason why Debrincat is gone is that the Senators cannot afford to pay another 6M-9M winger. They need a legitimate starting goalie.

Wright would give the Senators an eventual top 9 forward on their ELC. He would likely not stay with Ottawa beyond his non-arb RFA years, unless the cap went up and one of the big Cs moved to the wing. Regardless, as a patch work trade to get a player who could help them in the next 2-3 years and maintain some of Debrincat's trade value while staying under the cap, he makes more sense than Ehlers.
