What I would like to see them do with the cap space. If they did this, sold their UFAs at deadline - Forbort, Myers, Bear AND made the playoffs I would consider this one of the best years since 2011

No to the Pens trade.

Granlund is a buyout.
Rutta is a keep or trade with some retention
Garland is worth a 5th (due to his contract)

I’m not so sure, Garland is a 50 pt player who drives play at 5on5, Granlund and Rutta are anchors. If PIT want to compete next year (I think they do) this solves a huge problem for them. I think the trade might be really appealing.

No, Pens decline swiftly. 14 isn’t on the table for a cap dump. Garland sure as hell isn’t worth it.

The problem is the 1st. Granlund and Rutta can be easily dealt with. Garland is good defensively but scoring 50 points seems a stretch and even then, 50 pt player for a 1st is a no go.

Would only happen is someone dropped that CHI was really high on, Ie. Michkov, Benson etc

Yeah, if Michkov fell to #11 I could see it. But he'd be the only one. No one else outside the top 5 guys is worth giving up 3 good prospects when you're this early in a rebuild.
