If the KK offersheet where he toke more money for one year and then less for the rest of his extension wasn't considered cap circumventing why would that be the case ?

I have maintained (even when other Habs fans have said that his value is low) that the price to acquire PLD is about the Florida 1st + Kidney + Dvorak/Hoffman + maybe a 3rd now that the Panthers pick is 31st. It has even been agreed upon by multiple other Jets fans. This is a fair price for both sides, I don't think that any GM (even those outside Montreal) would give up much more than this, plus still have to sign him in the 8.5+ mil range, it just makes little sense to go overboard to acquire a 2C who has been problematic for 2 separate teams.

Why would it be a huge gut punch exactly? If he doesn't come here we aren't out all the assets you seem to think we will be trading to acquire him, we have been down this road several times before with much better players. They say the want to play here but a deal never works out, it's no different than any other team not getting a player their fans are really hot after. It would be more of a gut punch if we paid 5th + Dach + something else then he demanded 10+ mil and we were either forced into signing that or sitting him for the season and lost all those assets for that.

It just sounds like a coping mechanism by you and the multitude of other Montreal fans. After more than a year of bombarding the boards with horrendous lowball offers and telling Jet fans that they had no choice but to accept these paltry offers because otherwise you'll just take him for free.

Now suddenly, it appears that all you're beliefs have been shattered. PLD has said he's perfectly happy to extend with multiple teams, multiple teams are interested in PLD and he wants to be paid. Pushing Montreal further away of being in the running.

Now, this isn't saying he isn't going to Montreal, just that Montreal fans have started with coping in case they don't get him.
