Monay in the Bank

Created by: Billy739

Initial Creation Date: Jun. 20, 2023

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Monahan coming back means more growth for Dach at Center.
While playing Monahan's wing last year he quickly jumped in to cover him at Center when he went down.
I want to see more continued growth there while re-uniting Dach with Caufield-Suzuki on PP
Monahan is here for 4-5 months until TDL so i want the maximum impact of his experience for Dach.
Plus i want to see Suzuki-RHP's chemistry continue and whether or not he can bond with Caufield too like Dach did (and no one else really)

Monahan Returns at below expect Cost.
Win for Kent Hughes in my books making him 2/2 as Caufield i didnt expect to take less either.

I doubt he's done either.
With Price Confirmed to be coming back in an undetermined role.
But after his win in the WC as Goalie Coach to Montembault its likely that Goalie Development will be the focus.
I wouldnt be surprised if MTL went out to find some untapped Potential.
With Allen spending no time on LTIR before Price retired but since in a starting role has been out 5 times in 2 years.
It Seems the increased role and Allens body dont agree with each other.
On Paper it made total sense given he was a Starter in STL before entering a Tandem
But in practice its proved to be an utter failure so unless Price can make Monty a 55+ game goalie Allens gotta be replaced.

I like MAF or Gustavson best for this role as both can help Monty Transition. MIN fans are mixed on selling either though.

Hart is an easy target but overpriced and while we could use him were not taking that risk on until atleast seeing what Price coaching Monty does for a full year.

There's always high value targets in Saros, Askarov, Wolf, Woll, Knight ,ext
But really none of them fit what MTL is looking for in a Tandem Goalie for 3-4 years tops with Monty.

So this leads me to one logical answer . . .Mackenzie Blackwood haahaahahaha just joking its Kappo Kahkonen.
Fits our needs and timeline Kappo Kahkonen who's in a similar position to Montembault and i believe good for our Tandem needs
I also think Price gets the best out of both them not only is he a great player he's a 2nd generation Goalie Coach.
He'll know how to help them reach the next level and push their limits
Hearing that he's buying a place downtown to be close to the Bell Center to Train Players is awesome news for MTL and their Goalies

I don’t see San Jose being interested in Allen, he doesn’t solve their problem in net

Sharks want solutions in net, not a stop gap. Kahkonen is already a stop gap so this makes no sense at all.

IF it makes not difference and both are just stop gaps on a rebuilding team
Then how does getting paid to change goalies no make sense?

As i put in the Trade im looking for suggestions on cost was all
Even if i gotta buyout Allen im still interested in Kahkonen for a 3-4 year stint.

Wasnt meant to
Question was what would it take to make swapping stop gap pieces worth it to SJS?

Neither goalie answers anyone's problems long term
I was just trying to gage the cost of Kahkonen solo vs paying to exchange him with Allen.

I’d rather Kahkonen, the contract ends sooner and is almost half the cost. Plus he’s like 6 years younger. I would do it if Montreal added assets

Ok what assets?
Im not going to give you top tier assets
No first or 2nd ranked players in any position.
But we're one of the deeper systems out there so our 3rd Center prospect Kapanen is better then most people's 1st C prospects

State your needs and we can figure it out
MTL has too many prospects AHL bound this year anyways
All our spots in Laval but 3 are set to be filled by Contracted players (ive never experienced that depth here even in 2008 during our Calder Cup Win)

Im hoping you need a LD hahahaha

LD is the very last thing this org will add. The depth chart is mind bogglingly long. Send Mesar and we’ll give you Kahkonen. Thanks.

Right for the top prospect on our Capfriendly AHL Depth Chart.
I respect the attempt but thats a little too rich for my blood
Cant give up Robin (Mesar)
Batman(Slafkovsky) will be pissed lol

Most importantly though our RW is bare youth wise since Caufield jumped to LW
Its Ylonen , Mesar and Roy for our depth chart the next 3-4 years with Gally, Anderson and Armia.
We need them

Mysak or Davidson and a Conditional 3rd that becomes a 2nd if Allen dont start 25 games this season
Davidsons the long time leader in Seattle who was a Memorial cup finalist coming up just short with Davidson finishing 3rd in scoring on that long run.
Mysak had a similar story the year before losing in the Memorial cup final then turning Pro last year in Laval

Mysak was always a 3rd line Center in Junior in AHL and will likely be there in the NHL.
Davidson was a top line guy who took a 2nd line role when his team added a Lambert and Dach playing a great shutdown/checking role while contributing on offense.
I view him more of a middle 6 guy or chances to becomes one in time .

Its not Mesar level from a Draft POV but both sure did spank what Mesar pulled off in their last years in junior by comparison

Mysak is fine but he is no Bystedt. Honestly with Kahkonen, I don’t think Grier wants another Adin Hill case on his resume. He’s cheap and we have little reason to trade him.
