Bouchard has arb rights next summer. A two year deal isn't realistic. He's a $5M defenseman on the open market, so I expect a one year deal this summer.

Kulak is a player I'd image Carolina would like but 2.75x3 years is just too much for a bottom pair player with their roster. Value wise is a fair deal, Carolina just won't spend that much on a 3rd pair D with all the contracts they have coming due.

2.75M is not expensive for a good bottom pairing LHD who can play on the top 4 if needed
CAR have planty of space to make this move

If it's not too expensive for a good player then why are you looking to move him? Because you need the cap space?

If it was a contract that expires after 23-24 season, I'd say it makes perfect sense; but it's not. Canes have solid D dept in their system coming and they do not 'need' to spend 2.75 for multiple years on a guy that doesn't improve their team. Save it for someone who will.

You probably have zero hockey knowledge

But that’s fine

You don’t have a lot of quality depth on the back end (Lefty’s) Nikishin we don’t even know when he will come over
Fensore is a small dman
Kulak does make your team better …

Why EDM moves him if he is good and cheap
You answered that question, because they need cap space

The reason why his acquisition is cheap, because EDM need cap space

Canes GMs don’t like trading for rentals and Kulak isn’t one

Now get out of here

So Edmonton would be willing to pay to move their cap dump, is that what you are saying? I do think the Canes might have interest in Kulak, provided he learns how to skate backwards without tripping himself, but they could get some more assets for taking him on if Edmonton is so desperate for cap space.

Then I guess they don’t need the cap space then. If they need the cap space so badly, he is a cap dump. They need to dump cap, so he is a cap dump. Not sure how this is hard to follow.

Not sure why the Canes would pay to bring him in, when they are more likely looking at 1 year options to fill the 3LD hole.

Bingo... No one here is saying Kulak is hot garbage... But just like EDM doesn't want him at 3x2.75, neither do the Canes. If it was a 1 year deal would make all the sense in the world... it's not.

They can just buyout Campbell ... he is a cap dump, this is just a win trade for the canes, they take a good 3LHD for cheap
IMO it's better losing on a trade then buying out Campbell
