The rumor mill says Carolina wants a 2nd line center and more offense so an offensive center would kill two birds with one stone. Backlund is a shutdown center he can produce offense too but normally doesn't because that isn't a priority for him.

Lindholm is the guy Carolina wants but he isn't being shopped. Calgary will resign him if at all possible.

1: Canes would likely rather just put KK at 2C than trade for Backlund.
2: Jarvis is absolutely not available and especially not in this trade. He has more value than Backlund.
