Gallagher and Armia cost more than that to dump, let alone get the Norris winner as well

Maybe but I don't think so, I think that is pretty close value without retaining on Karlsson. Also I think you are undervaluing Gallagher and Armia

Habs fans... Edmundson is not getting you anywhere close to a first or second.

And PLD is a headache, don't even trade for him

Gallagher has a bottom 5 contract in the league. Armia’s is awful as well. 3.4M for a 4th liner

Seattle might be interested in Edmundson as a veteran stopgap to replace Soucy until Ryker Evans is ready, but certainly not at the price of a first or second round pick. If that's what Montreal would want there are cheaper and arguably better alternatives available for the Kraken to pursue. Edmundson's a solid defensive defenseman, but he's also injury-prone and only a year away from free agency; I think the Habs are looking at a mid-round pick at best in return for him.

Eddy still has value and fans tend to overvalue draft picks over actual players (myself included), whereas GM's do the opposite. It's why guys like Chairot and Lehkonen get a 1st + when fans say they should only get a 2nd, 3rd or mid round pick.

Those are deadline deals where a lot of mistakes are made, quite often by the 15 teams that don't win the cup! If you can get a 1st or a 2nd for Edmondson this off-season, well good on ya! . . . Fairly confident it won't be from Seattle, though.
