Depends on how the cookie crumbles; if there is a player that Detroit loves at 29 maybe? I do think they'll be able to get a better pick with those two 2nds, though.

I used the value chart for this. Those two pick may be able to get 1 pick higher with no 4th coming back but I think the 1st round picks are going to be skewed higher in value this year.

Fair; I don't think think we'd be able to get 21 (as direct value), but maybe 24?
Through in 43 and we'd be able to get a damn good pick.

I agree on what could be had at those 2nd rounders. That is why I targeted as many of them as possible. We like as many darts as possible and I think those will be good darts

Miss Fits, Mr Fits. Cousin Fits. /s
Just they players the Canes are trading for. I don't know if or if not they fit the team's system. Good post though!

This would be more of a trade on draft day, but the Wings would consider this for sure. Depends who is still available with the Dallas pick.

Detroit needs top-end talent. If I'm Yzerman (which I'm nowhere near his level of understanding, but...) I'm calling up Pittsburgh offering to eat as much 1-2 year cap as possible to get that 14OA pick off them.
I'm also figuring out how to break into the top 16 again by using our later picks.
I can't imagine how good our pool would look with 9-14-16-17; I mean hoochie mama that would be fantastic.

Im not familiar with Lyubushkin's game, but if he's ready for top pairing minutes with Morrissey, then I do this deal for WPG. Replacing DeMelo's role would be the main concern here.

How about on your next post, you propose an extension for Pesce and leave him out of trades that don't make our D better.

He isn’t DeMelo and Drury isn’t Nino. Basically the 2nd rounders where paired with Drury and Lyubushkin to make up the value difference between them and Nino and DeMelo.

As much as it will be difficult to replace Pesce, i don’t think we come close to offering him the extension that he can earn on the market. I wont be doing a Toronto or Edmonton versions if that makes you feel better, they don’t have interesting pieces to make it worth while.

Understood. I will politely disagree. I think we can get him extended. But, none of us knows for sure yet. The market for him would be quite vast so I think we need to focus on teams who might share mutual trade interest, not just the ones that some media windbag tossed out. There should be a long list of better, potential partners.

I don’t think we come anywhere near the 6 years 6+ million he can get on the market. We either offer 5.5 over 4 or we offer 28 over 6 years. Basically 3 years of 6 million money, 1 year of 4 million and 2 years of 3 million money.

I think Waddell would get close enough to that. I do.

Boosh is likely not a top pairing defenseman, he was good on the Sabres 2nd/3rd pairing with limited minutes while playing hurt for most of the year. Also I would honestly be very surprised if Buffalo is willing to deal him because he is one of the few defensively minded physical defenseman on their roster. If this deal were to go through I would expect either Joki or Bryson and another day two pick to be in place of Boosh.
