Honestly would jump at that as CBJ, but don't see any situation that they move Texier this offseason

Barring Tex requesting a trade, which would be pretty messed up after the loyalty the Jackets showed him, he's definitely going to be a Jacket through 23-24.

Yeah, I've got no desire to trade him. I think it's completely realistic for him to be a part of the core CBJ build around long term, he was quite possibly their best forward in 21-22 (even if it wasn't a high margin) before going to France. Would never happen, but purely on paper I do think this would be a good move.

That CBJ trade is terrible for the Avs. Like, really, REALLY bad. Not sure how you think the value is even on this deal.

It works get our right D set for the next 3 years, and we'd have another cost controlled player.

Anyone else in mind to take his place?

Roslovic with retention is the easiest, probably. Robinson could be but that's not equal value. Bemstrom and/or Foudy would both make sense, too, from CBJ; they both could use a change of scenery.

Why should we be concerned with setting a 3rd pairing defensemen with any kind of term? That, like a 4th line player, should be mostly 1-2 year deals, allowing the Avs to slot in younger guys when they’re ready.

Newhook has much more current and potential value on his own. Peeke is interesting but not that interesting. There’s a deal to be done but it shouldn’t include newhook.

.

The inevitable Manson injury, or reduce Manson a few minutes I'd rather trust a Peeke type compared to a rookie to move into top 4.

Sure, I get that. I would say that this is probably the spot, if you’re the Avs, you allow yourself to take in some risk knowing that you have some decently sufficient call ups. Deal with Manson the following summer if he gets injured again, his NMC becomes a 10 team no trade then .

Regardless, peeke for newhook is not a good trade for the Avs.
