I call it fair. Arizona gets their starter in net and a legit top six center. NYR gets a young defenseman with great potential and a top 10 pick after years of not having a 1st round pick at all.

Raanta will be great with ARI and Dominque is a good backup. Stepan is not a N1 center but it is improvement. Still trading a 1st and a great prospect is a tough pill to swallow, so I say NYR won this one.

Bad move by Arizona. Yes they get their center, but Stepan is not a #1 center, also Raanta is good but he's not worth a 1st, and giving a great prospect is ridiculous. Bad move for a rebuilding team.

The trade with Chicago signaled to me they are no longer rebuilding; this is a team that just opened its Cup window. Stepan is only a #1 center till Strome/Keller takes it from him. Then he's an elite #2 center.

True, this trade makes some when you consider ARI's youth sense. Domi and Duclair should be big factors this year, and expect Strome and Keller to break into the lineup. DeAneglo didn't have a place in ARI with Ekman-Larsson and Chychrun leading the backend so trading him does make sense. As well as Raanta who should be a solid starter, and Domingue a reliable backup. I expect big things from Arizona now.

Rangers not giving away their 1st round pick but adding one?? That's a first.

Mostly fair deal maybe leaning a bit to NYR winning from an unbiased standpoint. They get the better end of the deal but it really seems like Arizona is making this the end of their "rebuild" and the start of their winning. If you see it from Arizona's point of view this could be good for them to start building their young guys around some quality veterans that still got it.

As much as I'd like to say that the New York Rangers won, it seems like a pretty fair deal to me at the moment. If one of DeAngelo or the 7th Overall pick turn out to be good, it's a fair deal. If both do, the Rangers win. If neither do, the Coyotes win.

Personally, as much as Stepan and Raanta are quality players they are not worth a high 1st round pick and a prospect oozing with potential. Stepan and Raanta both make sense and fit into the ARI roster, but ARI overpaided for them, therefore, NYR won.

Phoenix is making a push to win now, building around Ekman-Larsson in his prime.
New York is stale and could use some more prospects to cultivate.

True, I see them as contenders for a playoff position next year.
My Pacific Prediction (as of right now):
1. Edmonton
2. Anaheim
3. Calgary
4. SJS/ARI
5. Los Angeles
6. Vancouver

I am going to have to say Coyotes did well getting Stepan even with his 6.5M or so cap hit and Raanta at about 1M. Rangers shed 7.5M in salary to get a replacement for Girarde who had 1 more goal in much less games. A right handed shot who was reading about how Tampa traded 1st round picks. Stepan is good for about 50 points a season while Raanta has 50/50 chances of starting over the current goalie Coyotes have. Ranges can use money they saved to sign somebody. Worked out well for Oilers when they got Talbot from the Rangers if nothing else wink. Figured Vegas would take Grabner or Raanta if it wasn't Moller, now they can just sign Kinkaid or somebody to be a cheap backup. Better to move Stepan now than get stuck with a contract like Kings are having Dustin Brown smile.

This is the day the Rangers kickstarted their rebuild. Three years later it looks like they could be almost done.

Stepan and Andersson were busts, but Tony Dbag and Raanta are doing pretty well for their squads.

That is true, to the point where I'd deem NYR the winner, but when Raanta is healthy, ARI has arguably the best tandem in the league!

In a vacuum, yes. Still, DeAngelo wasn't gonna grow in ARI, and Raanta has been awesome when healthy, so ARI still benefitted from this deal.

In a sense, while NYR is the clear winner of this deal due to how well Tony Dbag has played, he might not have done that well had he stayed in ARI. Getting Raanta is still something that ARI can be plenty happy about.

People like to call him that due to his political views. Personally, I don’t care for his views, he’s good at hockey and helped us win games this year.
