For that offer I'd give you Henrique with no retention. Ranta is a pretty meh prospect at this point, about equivalent to Pavol Regenda who the Ducks signed for nothing. At best the pick swap is moving up one round and at worst it might be only half a round (if Avs win the cup for instance).

All of this is said from the perspective of the Ducks having no need to deal Rico now. We're a better team if he's on the roster at training camp and can look at trades seriously at the TDL.

I'd say the Ducks should be more concerned with his injury history and his age - he very well could not be available at the TDL. And they should definitely not care if they're slightly better with him in the lineup; they're going to be picking in the top 10 again so who cares about wins and losses at this point? If they can get a good return on him now, they should do it; this may not be the best they can do but, if I'm them and considering all things, I'd rather trade him now.

Ah, the classic you're bad so nothing matters logic from a good team wanting a bargain. That attitude is the best way possible to stay bad.
