Edmonton fantasy offseason

Created by: Jukinators
Team: 2023-24 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 26, 2023
Published: Jun. 26, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Not a oilers fan just my opinion on a somewhat realistic outcome to this offseason. Dump Campbell and ceci as they take up 8.25 mil and you use that to find that superstar goalie you need and also prepare for the upcoming rfa contract extensions coming up

Trades
1.
EDM
  1. 2023 6th round pick (OTT)
Additional Details:
Flyers take on Ceci until 2026 and although he isn’t necessarily a unmovable contract I still feel that adding picks to give the rebuilding flyers a reason to take on 3.25 mil for 3 years is necessary. Picks could be wrong just focused more on the idea of dumping ceci to the flyers for picks
PHI
  1. Ceci, Cody
  2. 2025 5th round pick (EDM)
2.
EDM
Pure cap dump move. Hawks have commesso who will be ready in couple more years. Solder boom is solid but not a starter in the NHL. Wait for commesso to come up when your team is ready to compete and run a tandem starting with Campbell for a few more years then either dump him or buy him out if he is unable to come back to full form when you guys start to get ready to compete
    CHI
    1. Campbell, Jack
    2. 2024 2nd round pick (EDM)
    3. 2024 6th round pick (NSH)
    3.
    EDM
    1. Hellebuyck, Connor ($1,500,000 retained)
    Additional Details:
Oilers add that star goalie they have desired since they have been able to really compete with mcdavid. Go for the win now move, yammaoto will require a pay raise next year move on from him now and save money to be able to sign broberg next offseason. Don’t know exactly what jets want in return but I feel this is fair as there is not much leverage on their side. Trade him for a player you can flip at the deadline. A 1st and a 3rd and you only retain 1.5 million for 1 season
    WPG
    1. Yamamoto, Kailer
    2. 2024 1st round pick (EDM)
    3. 2025 3rd round pick (EDM)

No way in hell are the Hawks touching Campbell's contract. Don't need/want him and those picks aren't enough to take one year of his contract, nevermind four.

Why though? You won’t be competitive for atleast 3-4 years. Why not add a bad contract but not a horrible goalie for high round picks. By the time it is time to complete the contract could be easy to move if not buy him out and the cost will be minimal as the cap will have gone up by 8-9 million dollars

That joke of an offer doesn't get you Connor Hellebuyck, Plus he's made it abundantly clear that he has no desire to remain in Canada. Not even for a single season.

Are you kidding me? Yamamoto has no value late 1st and 3rd round picks are late. On what planet would that get you Hellebuyck? shakes head Hellebuyck will be going to an American team. Not an Canadian team.

You will need to give up a lot more higher round picks to get rid of Campbell and Ceci. Ceci is a fine player but too much money and Campbell is just an awful contract that will take more than a king's ransom to move.

The only fantasy, Is honestly thinking that Hellebuyck would waste his time in Canada. When he already said that he will never play in Canada ever again.

Ok well hellebuyck was and is the best goalie available. Unless they trade for carter hart which is a gamble who else do they set their sights on

Chicago doesnt need a goalie. At all.

They arent throwing ~$20m in salary away to only get a 2nd and a 6th.

Fantasy is right! That Campbell trade is brutal for the Hawks. A 2nd to take on 4 years and $20m in cap hit and salary? That contract takes the equivalent of at least two 1st round picks to move. Maybe more.
