First, I agree that this trade is clearly a long ways off for Pesce.

However, Dallas can absolutely land Pesce without including Johnston. 2024 1st, Mavrik Bourque, and another piece would be more than enticing enough to get the ball rolling on a trade, especially if the Canes land someone like Karlsson and need to move some cap out of Raleigh.
