At this point, Xhekaj wluld only be moved for a 1st, or a decent goalie prospect, maybe a very early 2nd. No reason to help out another team

Dealing Foligno immediately after signing would be quite messed up and also just never happens

If he doesn’t play in MTL, no one will have him. And its not like he won’t play, he’ll be an amazing 6th/7th D in one of the deepest D in the league. The think is he brings something not a lot of players bring

If he’s the 6th D it is definitely not the deepest D in the league. He’s terrible idk why you think he’s so good he was some random undrafted guy we signed cuz we had no one else to play

Let him round out some of his defensive game and he will be a solid 4-5 D on a lot of teams. He is like what, 22? Players develop till 26-27

He’d be in the ahl for almost any other team outside of Vancouver. Also Enwistle is better than him and 1 year older and we got great defence for the future. He most likely won’t become a good top 4-5 guy so he is nowhere near worth a first

Hawks decline first two trades. This is bad asset management. With the picks they made tonight, it’s clear they’re moving forward with the rebuild with an emphasis on speed and transition. They have no interest in dealing firsts unless it’s young players coming off their ELCs that can grow with this new core.

This is a team that will build through the draft. Korchinski, Bedard and Moore (I still don’t know how he fell to 19) will be cornerstones for a new era of Blackhawks Hockey and they’ll continue to stay the course with the long rebuild.

It’s funny how Davidson was working the phones to try to trade up for Moore and they still got their guy anyways. Cristall at 35 please!

I’m really high on askarov he is young and it’s tampas first it could be late ish ( maybe they could protect it or something idk) but I think askarov would be a fantastic goalie for their future

They have goalies in their pipeline (none that are elite, but reliable) and while Askarov is good, paying a 1st and two 2nds for a guy who’s never played a game in the NHL is a major risk and terrible asset management. Blackhawks will keep their 2 Top 25 picks next year, unless a young player gets shopped and you can’t pass up on acquiring him.

MTL wouldn’t trade Xhekaj for less than a 1st round pick & MTL would have to send Entwistle & Katchouk in the minors (through waivers first) because we have no room in the 23 man roster

Habs try not to overrate your players wayyyyy too much (like a scary amount of overrating) challenge: difficulty impossible

I don't think it's possible to add trade protection to a pick you acquired from another team. Regardless, NSH declines. It's possible Askarov might have been dangled to trade up, but to trade down on their best prospect doesn't make much sense.

Romanov went for 13th OA
Chiarot 1st + 4th + former 3rd rounder in Smilanic
Lehkonen vs former 1st RHD in Barron + 2nd
Kulak vs 2nd + 7th
Toffoli vs 2023 1st + former 2nd rounder in Heineman + 5th

So yeah, MTL wouldn't trade 22 yo Arber Xhekaj for less than a 1st, it's obvious

CHI doesn't need LHD. So the Xhekaj argument is moot, anyway. CHI has a decent goaltending pipeline and is likely to be adding to that pipeline today in the draft. A rebuilding team isn't going to overpay for Askarov. BUT, I do think he is just about ready for serious NHL ice time and a team closer to contention should be very interested in him if NSH truly does want to move him. Yamamoto should cost EDM to move, if they aren't willing to pay, then he won't be a Blackhawk, it's as simple as that. But some team might take him or even pay for him.
