Dubas went into last season with a 20 man roster, to make the cap work. He had guys on LTIR to start the year. And he never really had to trade anyone, because people always got injured. Don't be surprised if the team is over the cap right until the last moment. He will keep kicking that can down the road, until he is forced to make a move.

Yeah I don't think that will be the case this year. He knows the window in pittsburgh is different than Toronto.
Out of Rutta, Petry, Granlund and DeSmith, a few of those guys wont be here come Game 1.
I don’t suspect us to be keeping Granlund and there is the Karlsson rumors floating. Hopefully he offloads Granlund, DeSmith, Petry, and maybe Carter. I could see Eller be the 3C for sure though. Was in Washington and Colorado
It’s going quite well I’m interested to see how it finishes. Interesting we somehow are getting older still though.
yeah... i don't hate any of the signings yet, but that depends how things play out. Graves is younger and better than Dumolin, and i like Nedeljkovic and he's younger.
I still don't see a 3C on the team, think Eller plays 4C and accari on RW
Again, different scenario than Leafs lol. They need moved because of Cap constraints. Dubas is aware of that.
Toronto was over the cap all offseason and they ended up running a 20 man roster to start the year last year. They started with Lily on LTIR, which solved the cap. And then someone else got hurt before Lily was back. And that trend continued, all season long.
We will see what happens. But don't be surprised if he doesn't move any of those guys (outside of DeSmith).
I have gone through several Dubas off seasons to know haha.

Yeah that would be ideal. There is a chance though they are planning on Acciari, Eller or Carter being 3C.

Trust me, get what you're saying but like a lot of people have suggested, Dubas wasn't pulling the strings alone in Toronto. Think he has more free reign in Pittsburgh.
No coach would do that in the NHL…and there is no way he retires unless he gets seriously injured
I mean part of it too is that no one else in that bottom 6 last year had any competence in what they were doing. Say what you will about Carter, he's obviously not the player he was but he has a high hockey IQ and competence at least for those late game situations (again, understand he's not good anymore).
Again, I wouldn't be shocked if he hangs em up, he's getting paid one way or another and he turns 39 mid season. He knows his game is gone.

I’d like to see him move to the wing with good line mates and I think he will play better and if he doesn’t then I think Dubas moves him in season to any team and I think by that point he would accept the trade as well

I don't disagree that he'd be better on the wing.
Will disagree that he moves to any team. Still don't think he's waiving for just any team. A vet like him doesn't want to go skate out his final games in the NHL with a bottom feeder.
