If Karlsson Happens

Description
Not quite sure about the framework for a Karlsson trade. With Jarry extended, I figured Blomqvist becomes expendable as our top goalie prospect. If not enough, I can see Pickering being swapped in. Also see Dubas using multiple future draft picks that span across different years if needed. Sharks fans, please chime in (respectfully). Personally, I think this is all unlikely but adding a third team as a broker makes it even more unlikely because of Karlsson's term. Too much complications.

The Boston waivers claim is just an example for where DeSmith could go when put on waivers. I could see Winnipeg putting in a claim as well if Hellebuyck is traded.

In the end, we have a 22 man roster with about $1.3M to spare. Maybe one more depth guy is brought in to get Carter off the ice and in the press box. I like the improvement of the PK and the defensive mindset of the bottom-six.

That is an awful trade for San Jose.

They lose Karlsson, retain $3 million for four years, take on two god awful contracts for what? Pennies on the dollar.

That's the kind of offer that could get Karlsson if there was no retention from San Jose.

It amazes me how many of our fans want to ruin the next decade of Pens hockey all to chance some dream of getting to the 2nd round of the playoffs.

And it’s worse for us when we give away very important draft picks and a potential future goalie.

If he was signed to 1-2 years left, but not 4 years left.

Boston will go with Bussi as backup if a goalie is moved. No interest in DeSmith.

But why would we trade away high picks when we suck?

Did you read that I said this is all unlikely? There is going to be a time when we suck you know right?

You don’t trade picks for when you are going to suck. That’s illogical.

We pushed for a playoff spot last season too. Why throw away a 1st round pick to “have some fun” by getting booted from the 1st round again?

He is not quite done yet, but Dubas has improved this roster to correct problems from last year.

Pens fans are split, it is what it is. Some want to just start the rebuild now, the other want to get one more cup for Sid, Geno, Letang. I don't think either side is wrong, but with Sidney Crosby still playing at this level, I lean towards going for it.
