I’d say because Girard isn’t the type of defenseman we need right now

If it were a 4th team who he was going to then I guess

I’m surprised by this. Who does Anaheim have on their D that’s better than Girard? Seems like he would fit nicely into a top 4 of Fowler/Drysdale/Gudas.

I think the Ducks easily win this trade, the Avs is a very interesting discussion, and the Flyers are clear losers in terms of net value.

We still need a partner for both Fowler and Drysdale

I think Gudas will be our RD3 and PK1 guy and babysitter for whatever rookie wins the LD3 job

We need defensive guys, not offensive is the main thing

I think the concept of Girard being pure offense is a misnomer. He’s solid defensively he’s just small so he relies on stickwork and good skating rather than being a traditional bruiser.

I’d prefer not to trade Girard but a Gudas/Girard pair would actually be really interesting.

Right now it’s:
Fowler xxxx
xxxx Drysdale
Rookie Gudas

We need defensive guys for both Fowler and Drysdale for those two to be able to do their things
