Nylander Move Seattle Perspective

Created by: TML_GM
Team: 2023-24 Seattle Kraken
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 3, 2023
Published: Jul. 3, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I would encourage everyone on here to always make their trade from both sides to see how it actually works out for the other team (short and long term). @CapFriendly - please make this a one-click feature in the future to save time.

***IGNORE THE MURRAY BUYOUT, CONSIDER HIM REMOVED FROM THE TRADE. I FORGOT THAT THE SECOND WINDOW ONLY WORKS FOR THEIR TEAM AS OF THE LAST TDL*** (My bad.)

Seattle folks, would you have any interest in a deal like this? How attached are you to Wright? I fully admit that I don't have a complete handle on all things Kraken.

I can tell Seattle fans that Nylander is very, very good. Always shows up in the playoffs. Can hold onto the puck in the offensive and neutral zone with ease, playmaker and shooter. I don't want to move him, but the Leafs simply can't pay everyone 10+ million, even with the cap going up. We have too many very good players who need (will want) raises over the next few years.

So Seattle is supposed to give up a top prospect, a high draft pick and a decent defensemen for a guy they can sign next year?

Murray's new team, whatever it is or might be, can't buy him out -- the first buyout window is closed and a team can only use a second buyout window for a player that was on their roster as of the last trade deadline.

I completely forgot about that. Thanks for the reminder. I guess you can consider him removed. Leafs will either buy him out after Samsonov files for arb, trade him, or find a way to stash him on LTIRetirement.
