What's the Maatta? (A TRADE WITH MINNESOTA)

Description
-GMJR says the Derrick Pouliot WILL PLAY on the team this year. He's a lefty, which means another lefty must go. Cole, while great defensively and a great third pairing D-man, Pouliot needs room to breathe. Also, Cole has pretty much hit his ceiling, while Pouliot's (if put in the right situation) is MUCH higher. Also, give Hornqvist to them. Someone that can muck it up in the crease and put up 50 pts a year. Finally, throw in Jarry who has a much higher ceiling than Stalock, and maybe he can be a future replacement for Dubnyk (which is what he was going to do for Fleury until Murray came along). Exchange picks in such a way that makes up for taking some future from MIN. *****In this whole trade, I'm willing to change Cole with Maatta, this would be a starting point trade.*****

-Zucker gives a future at LW, and a great player to play with Malkin and Kessel, who is good defensively.

-Create a 4th line that, when a chippy game is upcoming (I'm talking to you CBJ/PHI), eats nails for breakfast of Kunitz-Boyle-Reaves that would strike fear into all opposing teams. But, when its a skill game, take out Reaves/Kunitz (whoever is playing worse).

-Sprong makes the jump, put him with a smart player like Bonino.

-I also think Maatta with Schultz would be a good pairing. They have a CF60 of 55.8 when together. When they're apart, they both drop a decent amount.

I honestly dont get the Minnesota Trade.

The picks are a wash. So you want a Top SIx Forward, A Top 4 D for at Bottom 6 Forward and a bottom pairing D with a Minor League Keeper thrown in as a sweetner. Pit is also sending more salary than they are receiving. It sounds pretty hopeful to me......

Hornqvist is a top 6 forward. You are kidding yourself if you say otherwise, PIT is just THAT deep at forward (especially RW). I said in the description that I'd be willing to replace Cole with Maatta.

The big problem is that Minnesota wants to trade a def for a scoring forward and the pens want to add defensive depth. This trade is a wash overall because you are swapping forwards and defenseman for each other.
The Pens would still need to add another dman and the Wild who have a ton of defenseman still need another scoring forward. It doens't address any teams needs overall

They might do Hornqvist, plus for Dumba to add some offense for a play off run, but I highly doubt they part with Zucker, Niederreiter, Granlund, Coyle ... unless a team wanted to swallow a HUGE salary (Parise) and give them a decent return. Those kids are out performing their salaries (THANK GO FOR THEM because they have to much wrapped up in 2 players otherwise) and are younger then Hornqvist and Min defense is fairly well stacked. Only if Min REALLY thinks the a deal like this gives them a chance to win THIS season would they consider the parts you want.

On the other side the Pens defense looks weak. Playoff teams will knock them all over and to much inexperience for a defending Stanley Cup team to bet on.

I do like your signings, adding Boyle and Elliot, though Elliot might be a reach. He's a potential starter who can earn more for other teams. Only if he wants to offer a discount for a cup run ... but not with that defense. Dumba/Pouliot is just to questionable. One of them with Cole makes more sense for this season.

Yeah this doesn't make sense at all. They likely give up the 3 best assets in the deal (or 3 of the 4). I'm not giving up a top-6 forward and top-4 d for Hornqvist and spare parts, especially considering Hornqvist is going to 31 next year and getting another fairly decent pay day. Last thing the Wild need is another old, overpaid guy on their roster. And Hornqvist is a third-liner on a good team at this point in his career.

Also, they really already have what Hornqvist gives them. Coyle and Nino play similar games. They definitely don't have anybody else like Zucker.

As for the draft picks, seems like the Wild get the Penguins picks when the Penguins are guaranteed to be really good (so lower) and the Penguins get the Wild picks as they are likely to start to fall off some (higher), so Pittsburgh is even getting the better end of that part of the deal!

Just seems like it's absolutely a non-starter from the beginning, even if you add Maatta and take out Cole.
