CHI might be into something like that next summer. But, you might get lucky. After his bonus is paid, plus being on the final year of his deal, and the cap going up, he could actually have some positive value next summer if he has a decent enough season.

I feel ya. haha. I doubt CHI would be interested in him at positive value anyway. Not to sound like a broken record, but I don't see them buying in trades for at least a few more years. So, it's probably safe to assume that he is a cap dump, for now.

An actually realistic Karlsson trade from a Pens fan. I am impressed.

Most likely scenario is 1 and done or no playoffs again so why would we make these moves?

Perhaps, but the goal is to contend as long as the core wants to do so and feels like they can, so I think Dubas or whoever the gm is gonna be is going to try to build a contender no matter what the outcome is after this year.

If we miss the playoffs for a second year on top of 5 prior years of one and done, what are we contending for? Because it’s certainly not a cup.

Tbf I think injuries has really played a role in the last few years. I just said those things based on realism and what we've heard from Dubas, not what I personally hope happens. As long as we have a supporting group around the core (and a gm who isnt afraid to make changes if needed) I think we will make the playoffs. Anything can happen in the playoffs. I mean look at the Rangers series. If our goalies weren't all getting injured and Sid also wasnt injured, we definitely would've beat that team. Unfortunately it didn't happen. Either way I think everyone who is with the pens staff realizes the goal is to contend, whether us fans want it or not.
