Tarasenko to CAR, does that mean Karlsson to PIT.....
Friedman today said "Dubas isnt done, wants to reshape the roster more"
also said "Dubas is chasing Karlsson but isnt just set on Karlsson, have others in mind too"
VERRY interesting stuff. I wonder if Carolina is out with Tarasenko signing. Karlsson deal close???
I was thinking the same thing, I think this might be the case
I don't want to get my hopes up here but it does seem that Dubas is locked in to find a way to get EK here. They need to find a 3rd team that Petry accepts a trade to.
Found it interesting during Dubas free agency press conference that he met face to face with Petry. That makes you think he's gauging his interest in accepting a trade. I wouldn't think Dubas would travel to go visit Petry of all players, just to check in...

Spot on. I was thinking the exact same thing when he said he went to meet with Petry. Like why did he randomly go to meet with only Petry in person out of the whole roster? I think Dubas probably respects Petry a ton and wanted to have a convo in person. Could be completely wrong, but that was my first thought
Have I miss something? Tarasenko is still a FA right? Did he just sign in Carolina? For how many?
its not official yet, Shayna from the Athletic tweeted it out. no terms yet. She is actually pretty reliable source too, have followed her before on news.

I agree, this is very interesting stuff. It doesnt really make sense for SJ, but I am a little afraid that Petterson is in the deal and the pens include like Granlund too. not Petry. just throwing this out there, I still think it is Petry if a trade happens but slightly nervous Petterson is apart of it.

It wouldn't make sense to move Petterson though unless they plan on also moving Rutta and banking on Ty Smith and POJ to take big jumps

I think the likely outcome is Petry to SJ and Granlund somewhere else to make the cap work. Friedman in his latest report said Pettersson will not be a part of the Karlsson trade. I think this is one of those situations where SJ just doesn't have much leverage with Karlsson. If they can get a 1st out of it I think they will.

Oh thats true, I do recall Friedman saying that in his podcast today. That is good to hear, I hope he is right.

agree with this. I was thinking maybe Dubas would then try and take advantage of a team cap strapped and get another lefty Dman. But I agree with you for sure.
We have Graves and Pettersson as defensive defensemen though. We really really badly need an elite puck mover. Our bottom 6 also has no offense at all. Need someone who can help the core score.
That’s why I like hanifin he’s a good skater. And having letang to learn from for offensive side is good. And he’s cheaper so we could sign other forwards. Like suter, Comoros, gurianov

Hilarious point - even signing Vladdy…the Canes can still do more with EK65 as the players they would move have value (example Pesce). If the Canes had to, they could make another $9-10m in cap space pretty easily.
This is honestly huge news. I'm super excited to see how this pans out. While I think hes expensive, Karlsson would be a great addition to the team and a good fit. I don't think Petry would be going to SJ, he wouldn't waive. I do think that he could go to a 3rd team. Granlund to SJ makes more sense. One of Smith and POJ, 1st, and probably Poulin.
