I can see what you are going for, but I don't think the Bruins would do this. Girard will not benefit the Bruins by the time they are competitive again. You'd need to add picks going back the other way, since this is more of a move to dump an expensive D contract to get a younger cost-controlled forward for the Avs with little benefit for the Bruins given their current position.

By the way, that Wood - Colton - Frederic 3rd line would be a lot of fun to watch.

I made one from Boston's side with much less line up certainty but they'd have a top 4 of McAvoy, Carlo, Girard and Lindholm being the old man in the group of 4 at 29

I don't think Girard's age or skill level is a problem, but his contract and the Bruins needs are. They have a strong D core with lots of money tied up in it already, and they have a prospect (Lohrei) who will likely take a top 4 LD spot starting in '24 for <1m. The Bruins probably won't be competitive this year, so they just need a stop-gap for 1 year. What they need are top 6 F prospects or high end picks. But I doubt they will get those things for Gryz and Frederic this offseason.

@xqb15a, so this line up doesn't look good to you at all?

Yeah I agree that third line would beat the crap out of teams. Idk if Frederic would sign for that cheap either

No because you gave Girard away. You traded a bonafide top 4 cost controlled young top 4 dman for older not as good pending UFA dman that makes almost as much and a 3rd liner. You can keep Girard Olausson and the 1st be just as good and just sign Gurianov and Nosek. You are trading the equivalent of more than 3 first round picks for bottom of the roster guys just because you have some irrational disdain for Girard and you are giving him away.

I don't actually have an irrational disdain for Girard, he's just our best asset because of his term and age and should absolutely be used to help our top 9.

One of my ideal trades that you've shot down is for Lundell+Forsling

Because Florida isn’t doing that. Lundell is team controlled top 6 center just about the only thing more valuable than cost controlled top 4 dman. You want to trade Girard fine, but try and do something that is value equivalent. The Avs wouldn’t trade Girard for Grz a smaller pending UFA and Fredric, but you somehow feel the way to balance that is to throw in a 1st and a recent first round pick? Wth? If you trade Girard get quality for him not quantity. Literally every trade you have made for him has given him away. I’ve said it a hundred times Hronek and Newhook fetched 1st and 2nd rd picks, Girard is worth more. You’re literally trading the equivalent of 3 1st rd picks and a 2nd for a pending dman and a bottom 6 guy, what do you think you could actually leverage 3 1st rd picks into? And remember when trading Girard what’s your plan for Toews because if you don’t have that you might lose 2 top 4 dmen in one season and have no prayer of replacing.
