Description
Want this to be more for discussion purposes, so give me thoughts below.

This was a really bad FA class, GM's all knew this going into it and with the cap situation lots of teams are strapped for space. There are currently 8 teams over the cap as of this post.

My feeling is that there are going to be quite a lot of trades coming in the next days/weeks.

I think some teams are still trying to determine if they're going to be sellers (big one being Calgary with the various UFAs rumored to want to leave) and I feel like a lot of teams are still looking to make additions Boston, NJ, Carolina, Pittsburgh, Edmonton, Isles, Rangers, maybe even CBJ, LA, Vegas. (I know some of these teams are working on QO's and some are over the cap but still think they'll look to make moves to free space)

What do we think some realistic Jeff and Elliotte noted on their podcast today that they don't believe Dubas is done, he's got his mind set on multiple players.

So pens fans what do we think are some realistic trades, or targets. (lets leave out Karlsson, i'm tired of that drum)

Players i'd predict they try and move: Petry, Granlund, Rutta, DeSmith, Rust?

I think they try and trade all of the above except Rust. I hope they listen on Rust and trade him for the right offer. Just not seek a trade.

I don’t think EK is done with. He has a NMC and doesn’t want to play there. He could be moved to Pens for nearly nothing.

But you said forget that, got it. I think they push DeSmith to the AHL and eat 600K against the cap. Then they move Granlund and possibly Rutta. Petry needs to stay 100% if they arnt trading for EK.

As for trade targets, once they move out Granlund/Rutta. I think Jarnkrok is a good possibility from TML. I also think someone from Vancouver is a good possibility.

Sharks definitely are up against the wall if he's requesting a trade, but personally i don't want him unless SJS and a third team are eating between 4.5-5.5 of his salary, and i don't want to give up Pettersson for him, makes the left side weak and Karlsson isn't very defensive.

I think Vancouver maybe, they're over cap.

Still wonder about Henrique in ANA.

Agreed, cannot lose MP this year for EK trade.

I would really like Tatar for the 3rd line. With current contracts, he could possibly be 2.5-3.0M for a 3rd line and PK specialist.

I know you said you dont want to hear about EK, but I can't help it.

Elliotte Friedman on 32TP on Karlsson and the pens:

"At the draft on Wednesday before the first round, someone said to me, look into it, Karlsson to Pittsburgh get it done. By the way I just want to to apologize on this pod to all the particulars on the Karlsson conversations, I've been bothering for the last five days like I know in annoying, I've been even more annoying when it comes to this one, and I was told not happening, can't really make it work, need a third team, but then I heard it gain traction after that, and on Saturday, like I said I heard Seattle was out and i heard Carolina and Pittsburgh those were the two teams I heard about, and I heard Pittsburgh was really trying and like Dubas met with the media and talked about his team, but I don't think hes done. He's got more to do to reshape the roster and he wants to do more to reshape the roster and I think chasing Karlsson, its not the only thing but it obviously would be a major part of it if it happens. Even if he doesn't get Karlsson, I dont think he's done. I think one of the challenges in making the Karlsson deal is that they have players who can block trades whether that's everywhere or to San Jose, and that's a challenge for them, but I think Dubas is far from done remaking this roster and I think if he can get Karlsson, he will. He tried in Toronto. Dubas really likes Karlsson and I think he would like to get Karlsson, I just dont know if he can pull it off."

Yup, I heard this.

recent rumors though have said Pettersson would have to be included, and unless you guarantee going out and getting someone like Hanifin to fill in Pettersson's role, i'm all set on EK Then. Adding EK to lose Pettersson wouldn't be good for the defense as a whole.

There are other players and possibilities out there, that's what/who i'm curious about peoples thoughts.

Agreed on the Pettersson front.
