Drury did an incredible job based on how much cap space he had. Quick, Wheeler and Gustafsson all under 900k are insane steals. Adding Bonion also is a good add.

Teams looking good. I assume Gustaffson will be your 3 LD. but time will tell. I can also see t hem doing 11 and 7 and scratching Pitlick or Vesey.

Either way, Wheeler for 800k was the best thing that could happen to them.

I’m praying Panarin and wheeler are not on the same line lol

I hope jones gets a fair shot at 3LD. His small size is a disadvantage vs Gus

So funny that Drury dug the mess we are in. And he filles the lineup with NHL rejects and gets celebrated for it. Only in NYR... either way this is not a cup wining team this year or next. And NJD and CAR just got that much better. Guess the rebuild isn't over?

Drury didn't sign Panarin and Trouba, the 2 contracts that are completely ****ing us fyi. Trouba's especially since he's played like a bottom pairing defenseman ever since he got here, meaning he's probably overpaid to the tune of 6.5m. Panarin is probably overpaid by about 1.5-2m as well. JD and Gorton really were the ones that ruined this rebuild.

And no, this team is not contending for the cup this year. We are committed to selling playoff tickets though. We went all in last season and blew it because we thought we were a better team than we were. And after the run to the ECF, I honestly don't blame Drury for that. I was tricked as well. We will never have the sheer level of talent and skill we did in these past playoffs probably ever again in our lifetimes. And we were a first round exit. We just gotta live with that.

This is a stopgap year to see what the kids really are before the choices we make next offseason dictate the future of this team.

I know, I know what you are saying. But part of GM's job it is to manage the cap. Drury would never sign a player like Panarin. Trouba on the other hand he might have. He also traded Buchnevich for nothing (literally). And paid almost 4 mil for a very good 4th liner. Now I'm sure pressure from Dolan is the key here. But this rebuild is terribly rush, nor well managed and poorly developed.
