Nah you can just keep Cat. Change Wallinder to a lesser prospect and we'd be more amenable

I really don't see DET giving up that much. They have OTT over a barrel and they know it. Unless there's another team forcing DET to give this up, they won't.

I don’t know if any package would be this high at this point. Ottawa might be better off keeping him until the deadline and re evaluate then.

I think the ask at the draft was Berggren and the 17th pick for DeBrincat and Bergeron was the deal breaker for both. At this point I don't think DeBrincat to Detroit happens.

They said Ottawa wanted the 9th pick and that's why it didn't go through

There have been dozens upon dozens of reports saying various things.
I don't trust any of it and I question if a deal was even formed.

Wings don't want to trade Wallinder and LHD is not a position of need

We have absolutely no choice to trade for position of need

It's very possible that Dorion insisted on getting Berggren and the 9th OA pick... If Berggren + 17th OA was on the table and he didn't take it shakes head

It wouldn't not surprise me, I have seen a lot with Dorion, can't wait for new ownership to come in and clean the house

Would be a certified Dorion moment. A good, young, middle-6 guy AND Pellikka? Yeesh. Would've been real good for Ottawa. Would've been pissed as a Wings fan.

Yeah but doesn't mean they would have gone with Pellikka. They like to reach sometimes (like Tyler Boucher)

Sigh.

Would've been insane. Don't you guys need a right-shot D?

Please ... let's not start that rumour... I firmly believe Dorion would've happily accepted Berggren and the 17th OA if it had been offered.

Yes and no. Dorion went after Chychrun who is LHD but has some experience on RD. Someone will have to play the right side, Sanderson or Chychrun.

Chabot - Chychrun
Sanderson - JBD
Brannstrom - Zub
Hamonic

There's a few RD prospects, namely JBD who should develop into a Josh Gorges type. After that, it gets thin with Lassi Thomson who is an OFD who needs PP and won't get an opportunity in Ottawa, Maxence Guenette who is more 2-way but would also need PP. There's also new draftee Hoyt Stanley who is still very green for now. That's it

You're right we have no idea if it's true or not. I hope he would have taken it, perfect for us as we would have gotten a good young player, a good prospect and cap space

Meh. Anyways, it's all hypotheticals. Teams never trade their prospects fresh after drafting, so we're likely looking at '24 picks.

I know but I was just answering your question if Ottawa needed a right-shot D?

Yeah. It was an answer to both responses and a bit of a conversation starter.
