You're 1M high on the cap projection, although I guess your number is possible.

Regardless, Manson is probably moved if the team keeps Toews. That opens up money needed for depth. I'm sure they'd rather keep him, but it's the most logical move.

IMO, the Avs having Behrens and Malinski, then drafting Gulyayev too, signals Toews is toast.

I don't know about that. I would prefer they extend Toews and trade Manson next summer. Then use Malinski and Behrens in the bottom pair or as 6/7 and get another depth D for cheap. Then in 2 years, if Gulyayev is ready to come over, trade Girard.

yeah but you were also claiming there was 0 chance of byram doing a bridge deal this yeargrimace
I'd just assume behrens is likely now able to be moved with a pick just like barron and helleson were for ready to help win now players and we still have other prospects for two years from now

MInd explaining how it would only be 87.5m in cap? My understanding is that last season's HRR was higher than ever before. Prior to covid, the cap was trending to have last season at 90m in cap. Yes covid caused a hit on HRR but the players' debt will be paid off before the 1st month of the '23-'24 season if over. Add in the expansion team and new tv deals, the league has never had more revenue. To assume 87.5m in cap would be a illegal(?) under the cba. Last season 5.7b/2= 2.85b, 2.85b/32= 89.062m.

I think it's more likely that Behrens sees his pathway to the nhl through the Avs blocked and forces a trade/becomes a college ufa. Although, if the latter is the case, track record shows that the Avs have the best shot at signing him Sticking Out Tongue.

The main thing is that there is some agreement on cap rises being limited to 5 percent annually. It's not a hard rule, and the two sides can agree to more, but I think most (including CapFriendly) are penciling in a roughly 5 percent bump, which would technically take it to 87.675M.

You had him at a minimum of 3yrs in every ACGM roster you posted. Most common was 3x$4M. I mostly did 1yr. He gifted the Avs a 2nd yr on his bridge deal. It was a compromise. In the end, we as Avs fans win!

Manson provides the #grit Sakic quoted. IMO they hope he gets healthy and plays out his contract
