Ottawa isn’t trading Jake Sanderson’s BFF to the Islanders just cause he’s from Long Island. Also the Isles don’t need to acquire another defenseman whose next contract will carry him into his mid thirties.

Pinto could be their 3C for the next decade, with upside as a top 6 guy too. Love Pager but no team in the league is considering this kind of deal. They fill the same position, and Pinto is younger and better, and will be cheaper when he signs his next contract that what Pageau makes.

We love Pageau but this is an instant NO, even if the pick was your first

Pinto was not available for Chychrun (who was traded for 12th OA+), and probably wasn't for DeBrincat too (who was traded for 7th OA+)
