I'm on board for this, but the Sharks would definitely flip Pesce rather than try to keep him. Zadina on the 3rd line makes sense too.

Is it though? Pesce may not be offensive like Karlsson but is far better D wise, Tarasenko and Duclair could easily bounce back and provide more offense, Eklund and Zadina could add solid depth and this team would now have 4 decent lines with options and their D would be decent with potential. If one of the Goalies step up this could be a decent team (not playoff decent but drafting 12-16 not 1-4)
And if Bordeleau Gushin Thurn etc push hard for time the team may have some hard but good choices to make!

If Blackwood pans out, I think they would be decent.

Wouldn’t you rather draft 1-4 than 12-16?

In all honesty this roster could be a dark horse up setter like Columbus did Tampa but I’m. Leaning towards middle of the pack roster with not much to build on and empty assests

You never know though, the West is much easier sledding than the East.

This is far less “if’s” than the last few years. We’re still rebuilding.

I go back and forth. Part of me wants a top 2 pick, but another part of me knows that could make the sharks looks less appealing and it could lead to players not fighting to win but accepting of losses. While building a better team that’s rising up the ranks would be far more inviting to FA and Traded players next year when the prospects will be that much more mature and closer to NHL and the sharks will have 30 mil in cap space.

He has the ability to be an NHL starter and was turning around his game by the end of the season.
My expectations for both goalies is above 3.00 GGA and a sub .899% save percentage.
If one does better that would be great if both do that’s fantastic.

I get that. I lived through some really lean years with the canes from 2010ish until RBA got hired and it was brutal. I wish we’d have bottomed out at least a few times but they kept generally finishing right around 10th worst and also couldn’t hit on many first rounders. We got lucky to slide into 2nd to land Svech, plus got the right coach and we also got lucky in the mid rounds to land guys like Aho Slavin Pesce to build the core around.

That way took a lot longer though and took a lot of things to finally go right to get out of it. Full rebuild is really painful but generally quicker and then the first couple years coming out of it are at least exciting imo.

Sharks have been bad since 19/20, but they lost out on that 3rd OA 2020 1st. That really hurts. But the sharks do have a solid prospect pool finally. Though a top 10 pick in 24 to grab a top tier RD like Levshunov Elick or Mews
would be nice.
