Description

No sure the Sens go for that trade, but hear me out: Granlund gives them an extra year of team control, and can player centre when they inevitably run into injury trouble. EDITED OUT

The Ruuta deal is just to clear cap

DeSmith is 50/50 whether he gets claimed, but I feel like a team who needs some depth in goal could take a chance on him with only a year left on his deal

You don't need to retain on Rutta to make that trade. If you retain, he would have positive value.

Ottawa easily declines.

I don't see a frame work around Kubalik and Granlund working at all. For Ottawa to consider Granlund would need to be 50% retain AND a 2nd round pick + would need to go back to Ottawa. In that case it doesn't make much sense for Pits.

Tampa Bay declines. They wouldn't have any interest in Rutta. They look to be all set on their blue line.
