This might be the dumbest name ever. Rangers get cap? By taking on Anderson? Lol Laffy will come in cheaper than him

Doesn’t make much sense considering that Roy could be a better player then Lafreniere.

Anderson at 2.75m for the remainder of his contract would be super enticing and valuable. Plus a 1st and a good prospect?

New York would have to consider this strongly.

Anderson is 50% retained in this. 2.75m x 4 years for Anderson would be amazing for New York. Roy is a very solid prospect. And a 1st round pick.

This is a rare proposal where I think New York strongly considers.

And I bet Laffy turns into the player we wanted him to be when he’s gone

And then both teams are happy. Successful trade.

Not if Anderson, Roy and the other 1st round pick sucks

well what if Laf ends up sucking?

Anderson is easy to predict what he brings. He is MASSIVE, skates very quick, gets to the net, can score goals. His hockey IQ isn't great, so it severely decrease his potential. He is ultimately a battering ram.
1st round picks are never bad to collect. You keep them or trade them for other pieces you need.
Roy is a solid offensive prospect. He could turn out, or he doesn't.

Any time you trade for picks and prospects, there is always the "what if they don't pan out". And fair enough. that's why teams like to stock up on ALOT of them, because eventually some pan out.

This trade offer is very reasonable. But I understanding wanting to stick with your former 1st overall pick.

Rangers don't need cap though, and taking Anderson probably makes their cap situation worse. This isn't a good enough haul for a former 1st overall.

Retaining that much salary for 4 years is an automatic no-go regardless if the trade is fair or not(it isn’t).
