Rangers pass and you need to brush up on the salary cap in the NHL.

The Rangers can't make it work, but let's be honest here. This is not remotely close to getting Nylander

Sure. I did in part 2 some, but the bottom line is the Rangers have the same problem as the Leafs in that they cannot afford to sign Nylander after next season, so one year is not worth Laffy, Goodie and a 1st round pick. Salary cap issues, so the answer to the trade is no thanks.

Looks like neither fan base likes the trade so it must be kind of close in value.

Or it doesn't make any sense. The Rangers can't make it work cap wise, which is why they are saying no. And the Leafs just get hosed here. A cap dump and guy who just hasn't hit and a late first do not equal Nylander.

Don’t think that means I need to brush up on the cap. Was trying to make a hockey trade that works for both teams. Rangers were apparently trying to attach an asset to get out of Goodrow’s contract. Without doing so they won’t be able to sign Laf.

Ranger get a 1st line winger who just put up 40 goals and get out of a bad contract.

Leafs get bottom 6 depth on a bad contract, Laf (who hasn’t lived up to expectations yet, but has great potential) and a pick

The Rangers have plenty of cap to sign Laffy to a bridge deal without trading Goodrow. Miller is now signed and Laffy will be soon as well. They are not trading Goodrow, so the trade makes no sense for the Rangers. Not giving up a 21 year old with a ton of potential plus a 1st round pick and a damn good bottom 6 forward for 1 year of Nylander. No thanks.
