Description
After the media availability with Eller, it sounds like Dubas and Sullivan want to start him at 3C. With that, I like the idea of Nieto-Eller-Acciari as a shutdown line that this team has desperately needed.

If Dubas doesn't swing big with Karlsson, I can see him making some smaller trades to acquire younger players.

Granlund is ultimately bought out during the second buyout window created with the O'Connor arbitration. DeSmith is placed on waivers and is claimed by Vancouver to strengthen their goalie depth. Ruhwedel may be entering the mostly AHL stage of his career now, maybe he gets claimed as well.

Keep Carter in the press box and only call upon when needed, I think Hinostroza will surprise us in camp.

Why make the Ott and Edm trades? Seems like lateral moves with the Pens losing picks...

With Kastelic, I could tone down the trade to just a pick. There is a lot of upside with Broberg over POJ .

Kastelic is a big bodied young, cheap bottom-six player who is good in the face-off circle. Hidden gem and probably better than what Poehling brought. Adding Poulin may have been overkill but I wouldn't necessarily say "makes no sense."

Lots of upside with Broberg, he turns out to be better than POJ in my opinion. He needs to get out of Edmonton and spread his wings.

I actually like Broberg a lot, but he has no real offensive upside. I would like to see him with POJ or Smith (even if someone is on their off side) because he would be a good stay at home 3rd pair guy.

That said, I'm very high on Smith. I think he is very good and hope he gets a chance.

Smith is going to really need to showcase himself in camp. I already got POJ and Butcher ahead of him. We will see...

Don't worry because Ottawa doesn't do this.

Kastelic is an ideal 4th line Center, tough as nails, great on face-offs, good defensively and has a bit of a scoring touch

They need Kastelic, they don't need Poulin and/or another late pick
