I really don't see too much of a difference between what they have now and this...... team doesn't seem too special on paper, but if Sorokin is lights out again could be a very solid year on the Island

I mean I get it aging player being gone, but my memories of Bailey we're him absolutely destroying us with clutch goals a couple years ago...... whenever it was a late goal against the Pens vs the Ilses it always seemed to be Bailey who scored it

It is really just about freeing up some space and getting some other young forwards into the mix. They are going to be awful in 3-5 years with these contracts and no prospects.

So are most of the other Metro teams. Which is why I think when the Pens are rebuilding it won't be as bad as every thinks post 87 71 58

He was absolutely horrendous this past year. I wish he had just LTIRetired because I’m not sure he will play anywhere next season tbh.

The Pens need some of that LTIRetired relief in Carter....... I don't think even as bad as Bailey was that he could outdo Carter

I had the same thought about Wahlstrom being moved for around a 2nd. I think it's a bad idea, but I also think it might happen.

Not a defense of them, but all those 7 year deals he gave out all had the air of "who cares, i won't be here much longer" around them - he *is* turning 81 right after the season starts, so I truly do wonder how much more he's got to give.

Yeah, it's a win now or never for him to add another title just as much as it's for a lot of the players. I'm sure he doesn't want his 2009 World Series win to be his last.

I hear Garth Snow wants to be a GM again...time for round 2? Maybe make Weekes the President.

Garth gets dumped on a LOT, and some of it for good reason, but he did have a knack for turning chicken sh*t into chicken salad - lots of long-time contributors were guys he pulled off waivers (Michael Grabner, Thomas Hickey), and those Leddy & Boychuk trades he made were absolute thefts. Totally get why he just decided to hang out and get paid for a few years of nothing, but hoping he gets another shot at being a GM somewhere with an owner who has some money to throw around.

Anaheim passes, Jones does more for us that a 5th and a LD7 or whatever he would end up being for us
