I agree they should be able to do better. Willy asking 10 mil for an extension takes a lot of teams out of the bidding. Making him more of a rental. Trade just balances the roster out a bit more and gives them more of that physical edge they are looking for.

That’s a solid 3rd line locked in on great contracts for 3-4 years. Also allows the cap to resign everyone and upgrade the D.

You’re moving down 1 round and getting a roster player to fill out your bottom 6. Lafferty isn’t a cap dump at all. He has this year left at 1.1 mil hardly call that a cap dump.

Assuming a Deangelo trade to Carolina is incoming. Timmins is a good young D under control for 2 years at 1.1 mil. Most flyers fans on other acgm seem content with a 4th round pick for him.

Oh you mean Sam Lafferty that was drafted by the penguins? Lol i'm well aware of who he is.

But it's quite literally a cap dump when the leafs are over the cap. If he is a solid bottom six player just keep him for yourselves. The penguins have more than enough 4th liners now and are also over the cap.

So no, just a terrible trade.

By your definition, trading nylander would “quite literally” be a cap dump

The leafs would trade Nylander because of extension reasons... you can't make that same connection lmao.

Leafs fans on here are trying to move all the same players (like penguins fans) for cap reasons. (Lafferty, Timmins, Jarnkrok).

You could move Nylander and you'd still be trying to move Lafferty b/c he's a cap dump at the end of the day.

Maybe, but realistically outside of our top 3, we have Andrae, Seeler, Staal, Zamula Walker and Ginning fighting for a spot, don’t see the flyers trading a pick while rebuilding for a guy who might not touch the line up

Oh “extension reasons”… like his contract extension? You mean the contract extension that has to fit underneath the cap?

Theres a difference between a player not fitting under your cap, and being a cap dump. Cap dumps, for your information, are when a player has next to no ability to contribute to the team, and is therefore just a cap dump. Even grossly overpaid players are not cap dumps.

As for lafferty and jarnkrok, they have a solid case for outperforming their contracts and I personally have no interest in trading them unless there was a valuable return. Cap dumps? They can play up and down your lineup, play pk and powerplay, can play on the dot or the wing. That’s not an easy player to get for under 3m a year. Nevermind calling them useless.

You know nothing, john snow.

You mean the cap that is going up $4M next season, you mean the $50M in cap space the leafs would then have next season???

They don't want to pay Nylander and he won't agree on an extension that's why you'd ship him off.

99% of the guys in the NHL can play in the NHL at some various level whether that's 4th line or 1st line, but when you're trying to move the low hanging fruit on your team so you can get cap compliant that's literally a cap dump, you are moving a player to get under the cap, every team is aware of the leafs cap space and would not pay a 4th rounder for Lafferty or a 3rd rounder for Timmins.

Please also highlight where I said "Called them useless". Would love to see you work that one out.

I know nothing??? This guy is trying to send a player to a team that is already over the cap rofl. No wonder players hate playing in Toronto.
