Washington trade is very lopsided, Flames don't consider that

The thought process is that Lindholm refuses to sign an extension and the flames want to make sure they get a proper package back. Kuzy gives them a chance to compete now, and their defense gets younger with a former second round defenseman with the additional added to try and make the deal a fair one

Your logic is extremely flawed. Calgary trades the by far 2 most valuable pieces here. Iorio is a decent prospect but Snively is worthless and Kuzy's trade value is on par with Ryan Johansen at best.

Not only is Calgary taking a massive downgrade at center, they are also getting an older replacement and moving out a 1st pair defenseman

I understand your viewpoint, what if it was a 1st instead of a third?

You would have to remove Andersson before there is even remote discussion to be had

MTL already have Allen and Montembeault, we aren't good trade partners

Not sure why flames would be moving Andersson.

Out of curiosity, if flames went full on rebuild, what would Andersson cost you think?

Yeah this is bad for the flames. They should be looking for futures for lindholm. Like a first and mcmichael from the caps. Lorio and a second is a pretty bad offer on top of having to take kuz back

I doubt it too, just trying to peg value. His play plus his contract would net a massive return and likely have a bidding war. In the scorched earth scenario he’s probably the most valuable trade chip

They can 't scorch earth. Weegar, Huberdeau, and kadri are all locked up long term. Best they can do is an LA style rebuild
