Stralman retires before Syracuse. Fortier gets claimed (unlike Barre-Boulet) if they try to send him down. Jeannot gets more.

I don’t think Fortier gets claimed but if he does it’s fine. Lots of forward depth.

Gonna cost more to dump Myers or he would have been dumped already

No they really don't have that much quality depth.

You're making an assumption they're trying to dump him. ( bad assumption) Listening to Brisebois they'll do all they can to keep him.

Agree on the first two points, but Jeannot had 18 points in 76 GP last season. I know that's not all his game is, sure, but do you really think he gets more than $2M AAV? Most of the guys that hit that $2-3M AAV range on RFA extensions were more offensively-oriented - guys like Cody Glass, Yegor Sharangovich, and Noah Cates were all in the 30-35 point range. I wouldn't put it past JBB to get him at 2x$1.5M and kick the can a couple years.

Of all the forwards competing for a the extra F spot in camp, one could be an argument Fortier is the worst of all of them. ABB, Merela, Goncalves, Koepke and even Brown all ahead him. Chaffee maybe too.

Jeannot was talking 2M with Nashville before the trade so to me that’s the absolute max for us. He really degraded his value here after the trade. 1.75 is fair for both sides on a bridge deal.

He also scored 24 goals and 40+ points the year before and suffered from nagging injuries all year.

You said ABB come on now dude is an AHLer.period full stop. He in the last 3 years has been waived 5 times by 2 teams (expansion Seattle) cleared 4. Merely had 1 good playoff run in Sweden. Gonclaves maybe ok. The rest come on now stop.

to be fair, that 24 goal season was on the back of an unsustainable 19.7% shooting.

he's probably somewhere in the middle of the last two seasons - a 15 goal/30-35 point third liner who bangs around and kills penalties. I think 2x$2M works for both sides - keeps the cap reasonable for the Bolts, and gives Jeannot a quick path to another contract when TBL will have more cap space. Low-risk/high-reward for him, I would think.

I've made that argument about that before too. I also expect him to get more ice time than last year. So I expect him to be in the 18-25 g same in assist range 40-50 point range
If I'm TB management I try to go around 2.5-3 long term and bet he's with our team closer to the 20/40 player and we get a steal in the coming years

Abb scores at an elite rate in the AHL. Nobody has been better the last few years. Fortier has almost no offensive IQ.

Unfortunately ABB doesn't have the skill to be a top 6 NHLer nor the dog to be a bottom/middle 6.

Yeah, ABB should have a great chance at a roster spot if a Crunch player gets a promotion. He seemed to really improve his overall game this past season, so he likely gets one more chance with Tampa. It's much more likely he gets claimed than Fortier, despite what some on here think.

If Tampa can't land Tatar or trade for a top 6 winger like Niederreiter, then Suter seems like a good add. They may have to pay him and Jeannot a little more, but that's not too big of an issue as they can run a 22 player roster by sending down Fleury or not promoting a Syracuse F.

I agree. Suter seems like a good fit. Young, speedy with great offensive instincts and by all accounts he’s a very trustable player. Can play in any situation in any position.

There are some guys who are great in Sweden Mikael Anderssen from the past comes to mind scored like crazy in international competition and Sweden just not transfered to the NHL. excellent defensive player PK guy but just not an NHL scorer . ABB has that same thing. Problem is he doesn't have the dog in him to play that bottom 6 role like Anderssen

If Tampa can't get a proven top 6 winger, giving ABB a real top 6 chance could be an option. He definitely fits better in a scoring role, and by all accounts he has taken a big step forward in his overall game this past season. Despite what several on here say, he's had 32 total NHL games over 4 years, which is hardly some conclusive sample size that he's just an AHLer. He's at the top of the list of guys to get a promotion, but there are 2 or 3 others(Merela, Goncalves, Edmonds) who imo could also grab the spot should it be available.

I guess those who think ABB is some top 6 foward are smarter and know more about talent evaluation than 32 NHL teams pro scouting departments. The guy has been available for free 5 times in the past 2 seasons, but sure miracles could happen. Just don't understand how all these great talent evaluators haven't gotten NHL scouting/player development jobs.

He’s not a top 6 forward. Rn he’s a young elite AHL point scorer who deserves a shot at the nhl level, because as of rn he’s the best option we have, assuming we don’t sign somebody new

He may not be a top 6 player yet, but if he's going to succeed, he needs to be placed on a more offensive minded line. Perhaps he could work on the 3rd line, but his clear talents would be wasted completely on the 4th or as the 13th F. The coaching staff in Syracuse was much more positive and impressed with his overall improved play last season and his seeming new level of commitment. Unlike some on here who write off a player just because he's been waived and not claimed before, those that seem to ha e watched him consistently tell a different story. There's no guarantee he makes it, but it's the last year of his deal and he seems to have figured it out. I'm not going to say he has the same type of career as Gourde, but there are some similarities with the late nature of their progression. If Tampa doesn't intend to use him in the NHL, they should trade him or waive him for contract termination so he gets a real chance elsewhere(and more than a handful of games this time hopefully).
