Lindholm is overrated. He's not a true 1C so he isn't worth the cost.

Tara is good but not worth getting wrapped up in that contract.

Hard pass on racist Deangelo.

Someone should work for Ovi in defense.
As for Anthony, the main thing here is how good he can be in the attack zone, the rest is not discussed.

Strome and Wilson do the defensive lifting for Ovi.

We already have two really good offensive defensemen (Carlson and Sandin) that don't do well defensively. Don't a 3rd, especially if that person is garbage.

Chicago is paying $6m+ for a player they don't need or want and are getting nothing for it.

I agree, perhaps here the Caps would have to give up the Pick of a higher round

This does not negate the fact that there are rumors about both player, which means that there are chances for such a trade

In my opinion, Strome is not good enough in defense, especially against 1 opponent line

I keep seeing you post that Lindholm isn't a "True" number 1 center and I CRINGE everytime I see it. He puts up almost identical numbers to Hertl and was 10th in Selke voting this year(2nd last year). Lol. Most teams would be ecstatic to have him anchoring the top line. He must of hurt your feelings somehow.

Strome has put up better analytics at BOTH ends of the ice (expected goals for and expected goals against) than Lindholm not just last season but the last 3 seasons combined. Strome is better offensively and defensively.

There's lot of evidence out there that shows Lindholm gets offensively carried by his linemates, so his point total is inflated.

He's good, he's just not 1C good and shouldn't get a 1C price. Then paying that price to sign him to a long term contract he'll never live up to would be terrible.

There are rumours about plenty of players. What has actually been reported is that Kuznetsov has requested a trade and Calgary is in talks with Lindholm about an extension.

Kuznetsov does not help Calgary, he is at best on par with Kadri at this point and is 31 years old. Neither Kuznetsov or Kadri are legitimate 1st line center caliber players whereas Lindholm is. If Calgary is trading Lindholm it should be for strictly futures since unless Aho or Matthews hit the market there is no one close to replacing what Lindholm provides being available any time soon.

Agree.

Davidson has an opportunity to utilize cap space to acquire assets, and mainly draft capital. While Mantha may rebound and have a good season, there is an equal likelihood that he doesn’t. The fact that he is not bringing a better pick(s) with him is a missed opportunity. In my opinion there will be better returns for their money available to Chicago as the season draws near, similar to the Dickinson trade at the beginning of last season.

There is no smoke whithout fire, and if Lindholm does not want to sign a contract, then the question is - which team does not have center of 1 line and have assets that can replace him?
Or do you believe that Calgary will re-sign it?

Bolded is pure nonsense

As for linemates, that is just silly. Like anyone playing with offensively gifted players their points totals will take a boost from playing with them but Gaudreau has only had 1 season where he didn't stand out like a sore thumb defensively. Tkachuk is great along the boards at both ends of the ice but Lindholm absolutely did most of the heavy lifting in their own end that season. Look at Bergeron, he didn't even crack 60 points this year and had 65 last year yet he is widely considered a top 10 center in the entire league.

And sorry I guess I should have been more specific, he's better relative to his team.

Lindholm got carried. He's good, he's not 1C good.

Many times I saw how Kuzy played for himself, instead of just giving Ovi to the free ice. But Backs, on the contrary, took away and gave away, so for the link Ovi Lindholm is what you need

I believe that Lindholm has not made a decision on whether he is going to re-sign or not. The Seravalli report from a month ago specifically stated that it was general league speculation that he was leaning towards not re-signing. Since then reports have come out that the team and player are still in talks.

If talks fall apart Calgary will sell, and likely all of Backlund, Tanev, Hanifin, etc will be moved for futures. I also believe that if he is made available there will be immense interest league wide considering his current cap hit.

I'd argue that Lindholm has been on the better team the last few years, especially 2 years ago. Matt T., Gaudreau, Huberdeau, Kadri etc etc etc. So when talking relative to their own team, Strome has less he has to do to stand out. Also, not sure how Evolving Wild calculates their statistics, the numbers I used are pretty common measurements.

Don't get me wrong, Bergeron is a top 10 center, and IMO Lindholm is around 13th to15th. He is not a flashy player but he is a very reliable guy who will produce more when playing with high end wingers. Couturier before he got hurt was very much like this too
