I have no idea how the Pens would make the cap space work for that. But if we could, we probably would.

Pesce > Hanifin... why are Carolina adding? Plus, why are Carolina taking Hanifin back? He didn't work the first time, and now he'd be behind Slavin, Orlov and Skjei in the lineup... what? No. Stop it

didn't think about that, just seen 2 guys on expiring deals that seem to be moving this off season.

Sure... but Pesce's the better player, he plays the more valuable side too... Hanafin is 2 years younger, but both are UFA's, both have great value deals... one could be the precedent for the other, but they won't be traded for each other. Especially because Carolina's right side without Pesce is shambolic

Canes shouldn’t be adding. I’d say value is roughly even.

Canes wouldn’t do this either way though. They’re loaded on the left side so unless they move Skjei out as well no reason to bring another lefty in the mix. Need more help on the right side.

Pesce is not better than Hanifin…check regular and advanced stats, bios, and size of Hanifin, and come back on that one. Pesce plus 2nd or 3rd for Hanifin seems right…Canes fans greatly overvalue Pesce and that’s why he is not re-signed as your owner knows better than you fans.

Carolina want to re-sign Pesce... if his ask comes down from 8 years they will do. And yes is hands down better than Hanifin... Haniifn is a decent 2LD. Pesce played 1RD minutes on one of the best teams in the NHL, and has done for years. He plays on the right which makes him more valuable anyway, but even if you want to compare them, Pesce is one of the best DFD in the sport. He's straight up elite in terms of zone entry denials. He's excellent in transition and has a good but not great offensive impact. Hanifin struggles defensively, but his transition and offensive game make up for it. He's younger by 2 years, but he's still a pending UFA too.

Calgary would need to add to Hanifin, not the other way around.

Pens trade is NOT going to happen from the Flames side, Cgy need a draft choice and a good prospect or player back….that’s definitely not Granlund the underachiever. Washington trade is too good for Flames to happen, maybe take out the 2nd round draft choice or both draft choices. Carolina trade is fair even if Canes fans think Pesce is same as one of Bobby Orr or Denis Potvin in their prime.

I wouldn't mind having Hanifin back, although would much rather have Lindholm. But, we are a bit loaded on the left side. Even if we moved Skjei, we still have two top-4 LHD. Slavin, Orlov.

Again the fact that Pesce wants a big raise but their owner/management realizes the system, not the player alone, makes him successful…shows you highly overvalue him… and replace any good D man for him and very little change in team goals against. Check Hanifin’s entire career back to age 16, he is truly the elite one, he is just not flashy.
