I like the idea of Petry coming to SJ and then being flipped to TOR for Murray (who only haas 1 year left on his deal instead of 2 like Petry). But not sure TOR can fit Petry in their cap unless they trade Nylander and/or a dman.

SJ's not retaining 4.5mil though. And if they somehow agree to doing that, it won't be for Granlund + Petry/Murray, a late 2024 1st, and with all due respect to the prospects included, not those prospects.

Also, that COL trade doesn't make sense for either team. If SJ shipped Barbs and Benning, it'd be for picks, not another LDman. And COL, if they were shopping Girard at all, would want more.

Leafs can afford Petry at the $4m cap hit listed if they are unloading Murray (who is over $4m), though just barely. If SJ would retain $1m in the flip that would be a slam dunk from TOR's perspective for sure.

Oh? And then what is the plan for Samsonov? Pay him in hopes and dreams?

I'm pretty sure Petry has every team in Canada on his no trade list.

99% positive that Petry will not go to Toronto let alone another Canadian market.

I'm also sorry to tell sharks fans but IF the team moves Karlsson this summer they're going to have to eat at least $4M of that deal. I don't think pens have an actual chance to get him but no team that Karlsson likely waives for can afford to take him for more, just not possible. The penguins definitely can't unless his AAV is $7 maybe $7.5M. I think the canes are going to be roughly around the same AAV. Obviously they don't know what's going on with Pesce yet and they have a lot of big FA's next summer that will take big deals.

To me either SJ eats $4M + or they don't move him. I don't think a 3rd team will want to retain salary for 4 years but I could be wrong on that for sure.

Sharks can and should retain $4 million or more to maximize return.

We could try paying him in good vibes and Tim Horton's gift cards?

He might just go for that, toss in a couple LCBO cards and it's likely a lock...
