Trades

  1. Grubauer, Philipp
  2. Kartye, Tye
  3. 2024 1st round pick (SEA)
  4. 2025 3rd round pick (SEA)
Additional Details:
Jets get back an awful contract in Grubauer, but walk away with a strong, NHL ready prospect in Kartye. They also acquire a unprotected 2024 first round pick and 2025 3 third round pick
SEA
  1. Hellebuyck, Connor
Additional Details:
Seattle gets one of the best in the NHL to protect their crease. A massive upgrade over anything they have had in their short history. Deal comes with a 5 year, 9 million extension.
2.
WPG
  1. Bean, Jake
  2. Sillinger, Cole
  3. 2025 2nd round pick (CBJ)
Additional Details:
Jets get a slumping, but still exciting prospect in Sillinger. Columbus has the best prospect pool in the league, and can afford to offload one of those talented players. Jets also help clear a log jam for the jackets by taking Bean off their hands. Finish it off with a 2025 second round pick.
CBJ
  1. Scheifele, Mark ($3,000,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Columbus gets their number one center to help play with the rest of the great additions. Scheifele slots right into 1C and dominates beside the likes of Laine, Johnny Hockey or Johnson. Signs extension for 6 year, 8.5 million dollar deal.

Grubauer's M NTC says no Jets. Don't know how interested CBJ would be in one year of Schefielle. Please no extension talk just to make a deal. Schefille's new deal starts at age 31.

Hate any of these trades for old 1Cs that need big extensions. Would much rather keep Sillinger.

Seattle can't afford Hellebuyck in contract terms this year. They need more contracts to come off the books before they can make a move like that which would be the 23/24 off-season.

Could be all in one blockbuster, helly and scheifele to Columbus, underachieving Elvis with 4 years of term, could be something similar to the grubauer idea. Little worried Chevy loses again, but here we are

Hate is a strong word. I could see it being doable either way, whether CBJ ride it out with the young centers they have, or trade for a bonafide #1 to help pull the team along in the short term.

I get why everyone is afraid of aging players, long-term deals and regression, but there are also a handful of players who age gracefully and continue to be productive well into their mid-30's. I think Scheifele could potentially be one of those guys.

Teams need good veteran players too, not just all sub-25 year olds. I think Scheifele with Gaudreau and Laine/Marchenko could be a very good top line with a couple solid veterans to lead this young club into the future.

There's no reason for Winnipeg to sell low on Scheifele and Hellebuyck.

Not saying I like the deal for either team, but the $$ between Helly and Gru is only $366,666 for 23/24. The contract extension he's prophesying begins next off-season.

True, I misread that. Given Gru's performance in the playoffs I don't think I'd do it yet. I still think Seattle does nothing major until the 23/24 offseason when you have contracts coming off the books. I also am not sure that signing another goalie is the answer.

I will admit, after thinking on it, and as a fan of both clubs, I do find the trade somewhat intriguing! Lol Hellebuyck is one of my favorite players and I dread the day he leaves Winnipeg. But if traded to Seattle, that would certainly soften the blow considerably!!

For Jets benefit, in taking Grubauer back, I think they'd maybe get a better return of which is looking less and less available to them as this drags on. So I like that for them!

For Seattle, having an unquestionable stud between the pipes would be amazing! I swear I needed to take my shoes off last year to count the number of games Seattle won by outscoring opponents! (7-6, 8-7, 9-8) lmao! Not a recipe for continued success!

I like the idea if there wasn't a cap but that's just me not wanting to pay a goalie 8+M. I think Gru winds up with a pretty short leash this year as the team continues to spit ball to see what sticks. I don't think the answer is Driedger or Daccord, and so to me it's a be patient type thing. I'm still disappointed we traded Vanacek back to the Capitals after we signed Gru.
