Not remotely close to the value you should be getting for Nylander

Even if it is just Nylander for this year, Pens take the deal and block Treviling's number before he sobers up

Ok my Pitt trade is better now I think they would do it, at the end of the day the scoop on Nylander right now is the Leafs will not let him walk if they can't sign him almost totally guaranteed so Granlund with a bit of term and 1st 2nd round picks is something to move on from him...

I would love to get 2 players for Nylander, 99.9% of fans agree the team needs a shake up, Leafs nation actually discusses moves with Marner and Matthews and that's embarrassing so Nylander going is not so bad, treiliving is not a stranger to big moves...Domi, Bertuzzi is a shake up but the return on Nylander could be a big help too, Granlund and jarnkrok would be very good together on the third line I believe.

its more so the carter for Robinson that makes it funny..... Robertson the Pens can get for multiple years to be part of their next wave, and Nylander accomplishes the win now so first im okay giving up I just think the return is very light for Nylander

No I hear you, I totally see that for the pens helping them more to contend this year maybe Robertson makes a splash this year also but both players are known well by dubas and help out like you said but I truly think Toronto benefits too and the other thing Nylander will be moved if he doesn't sign no matter what and I think this return might seem light I think any team will be hard pressed to help Toronto knowing they could let Nylander walk to FA so working with dubas and maybe taking what he is willing to move becomes the best option.

Just throwing out there if zadorov or Romanov could ever become Leafs I think it's huge too I'm really high on those guys, just coincidence that they're both Russian but one thing about that and it's a bit random but Samsonov gets a Russian buddy not that it matters that much but good solid defense help and I believe in Samsonov long term so it doesn't hurt to have one good countryman back there

I would definitely prefer this trade to any trade involving Nylander for Guentzel 1 for 1. I'll probably go ahead and do the Pens side of this to show what the lines would look like. (I still don't think this happens)

Is Karlsson at $8M more valuable than Nylander at 7 because someone just made a deal including Granlund a 1st and 2nd for Karlsson so I'm not far off.

-Jeff Carter was traded to the Pens on April 11, 2021. In that time, he's played 169 games for Pittsburgh and put up a 41-44-85 line - or, two points less than Nylander put up on his own in the 2022-23 season. Granlund had 5 points in 21 GP with the Pens after the trade, is 31 years old, and still has 2x$5M left on his deal. The Granlund trade was ripped apart when Hextall made it in March, and that was when Granlund still looked like a 50ish point guy. Basically, this is Toronto giving up the (by far) best player in the deal to get back two veterans on the wrong side of the aging curve, plus a pair of picks 2 and 3 drafts away. This is less like "4 quarters for a dollar" and more "a couple nickels and some lint for a dollar."

-Islanders would not make this trade. Brodie makes double the AAV that Romanov does, has less term, and is a decade older than him. Again - Brodie is still good but is on the wrong side of the aging curve, while Romanov improved across the board from his 2021-22 numbers and is clearly on the upswing. Adding a bottom-6 guy like Holmberg doesn't really move the needle here - and that's before you get to the point that the Isles literally don't have the cap space to absorb the extra $3.3M in AAV you're sending them here.

I appreciate the time you put in to make that post I really can't disagree with anything you said, I guess Granlund overall would have to be a "new look" idea on a new team since he is expected to play a lot better, carter is just that support and culture change live and ofcourse with the team already in Toronto any production at all is great and his culture is a lot different than nylanders customs if you will lol and then it's still a first round and second round pick, still see it your way completely and I know my idea here is more far fetched than yours which is more obvious but with all that the rubber meets the road at the fact that if Nylander doesn't sign he will be traded so what comes back in that trade is anyone's guess then..

Brodie for Romanov ok fine the money doesn't work, I'd think maybe Brodie joining a very good defense and lamarello knowing him would be enticing maybe he thinks Brodie is twice as good as Romanov and Holmberg could be of value plus the staples on defense are in place on the island so after 1 year you get Romanovs money to do what you want or Brodie's 5M whatever essentially I'd just love to have Romanov and maybe more important move Brodie

Don't disagree your idea on the matter is the obvious one I am going way outside the box I recognize that but I have my reasons.
