Not sure Colorado would be that high on Maatta. I think he's skating ability (mainly acceleration and speed) is somewhat lacking enough where (western conference) teams would see it as a detriment. His contract is pretty heavy as well, for someone with some thing that would need to be addressed, or mitigated by being insulated with another top-4 Dman.

I would think they would be more interested in a Hornqvist/Pouliot/1st Rd'18 package. Upside with Pouliot is high, based on pedigree and progression over the past year. Hornqvist's style of play (as well as leadership/experience/etc) with 1y left on the contract (albeit relatively high cap hit) is a fairly attractive option headed into next season. The draft pick isnt going to crack a top-20 pick, so there may be some issues there as well.

Just a thought. I would not hate it if this trade went down as you outlined.
