Wow Pittsburgh gives up A LOT here for just Karlsson. Even with retention I don't know that they even blink at this one.

Pens fans of all people should know Murray is never really healthy.

They're going all in, so giving up a late 1st, a couple of mid prospects and a 2nd is worth it. The best piece in this whole trade scenario is Nylander, and the Sharks won't do a deal unless they get a quality player back which the Pens are not offering so I think a three way deal is a good solution for all sides.

He gets "injured" every time he has a bad game. It's like clockwork. It's always something that doesn't show up on x-ray too

Gee, Trevilling destroyed Calgary's cap last season by signing aging Huberdeau, Weager and Kadri to contracts that extend to the next decade.
I was no fan of Dubas and his mismanagement of the Leafs, but Trevilling's record doesn't inspire confidence.

I agree with all of that. And honestly this is probably the most realistic EK trade I've seen. I still would be scared to give up all of that for an aging D-man who has that much cap hit. I'm starting to wonder if EK doesn't get traded at all.

I think having an unhappy aging superstar on your roster while you're trying to rebuild is not good for the young guys coming up in the system. So I'm guessing the Sharks will eventually buckle and trade him before the season starts.

The mandate from the owner of the Flames was to stay competitive and make the playoffs. What was Treliving supposed to do? And he had to overpay to convince those guys to sign long term in Calgary. And they aren't bad players by any means.

Again, totally agree on that logic. The value for what you get with EK is just not what I would want if I'm a GM. Whatever deal happens is going to be REAL messy and convoluted lol

The Maple Leafs should get a draft pick from the Sharks, not the Penguins, for retaining salary.
