Pittsburgh NO EK

Created by: SoCalGm
Team: 2023-24 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 26, 2023
Published: Jul. 26, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
- seems to be Pitt ownership would be OK eating Little's contract to dump Granlund and become cap flexible.
- hard to value the CHI and PIT trade but it seems fair to me. CHI gets a legit top 6 with top 4 potential. Younger D-Man going to a rebuilding Blackhawks team. Pit gets a serviceable top 9 player that can up and down the lineup. Ex-Soo Greyhound that should tickle Dubas in the right spots. Also get a big LH D that can come in and out of the lineup. Would love to see Ty Smith get some reps. Added 3 rounder to recoup the 3rd round sweetener given to AZ in the Granlund trade.
-In the end are the Pens that much better? No. But they get flexible to make moves throughout the season and IMO, are marginally better with these moves.

AZ isn’t planning on being competitive, so they have a player on IR that insurance pays for while they pad the cap. Why would they want to pay Granny? The Chicago deal makes zero sense. The Pens don’t need another forward and Tinordi has concrete skates and would be on waivers after the first week of camp.

I don't think the fit is there for Chicago. They have a pretty deep pipeline of LHD. But never know.

AZ definitely declines. Little costs them $750k after insurance. That's exactly the type of contract AZ loves.

Can't see why Pens trade POJ to play Ty Smith?

Can't see the hawks being interested in this. LD is pretty much the 1 position the don't need.

I’ve never understood pens trading POJ, but it’s been discussed regularly. My thinking is that the pens have no secondary scoring in their bottom 6. Not that Katchouk puts them over the top, but it’s better than what they had.
