I think Toronto won because they had to get rid of some contracts, they didnt give away any blue chippers. Grabner will be an asset in the top 9 and will be worth something at the deadline since he's a free agent next year.

Islanders are playing the lottery it seems, could work out as well.

Kind of a close trade and makes sense for both teams, but I voted for the leafs. (pains me saying that lol)

The Leafs absolutely won this because they are free of 4 contracts spots allowing them to take on other contracts near the deadline or at next draft. Grabner will help their PK and immediately becomes on of their fastest skaters.

Isles win on this one. Grabner isn't that great of a player in my opinion, well I guess he could be first line, but only because of being in Toronto. Leafs gave up too many players in return in my opinion.

Four years later, Grabner's still ahead, but look out for Verhaeghe.

Verhaeghe is no longer on NYI; they traded him for Kristers Gudlevskis. All NYI has left from this deal is Christopher Gibson, who isn't viable.

Don't tell anybody, but I'm not sure Grabner's gonna be a Leaf much longer, either.... wink

One of these six players is a cup champion, wouldn’t have believed you if you told me that back in 15

Where are they now?

Grabner: basically retired, but unofficially I believe.

Verhaeghe: regular with Panthers. Won Cup with Tampa.

Matt Finn: played in Austria last year.

Christopher Gibson: in the Panthers organization, playing for the Charlotte Checkers. Only 16 career NHL games.

Tom Nilsson: playing in Sweden. 61 career AHL games, 0 NHL games.

Taylor Beck: been in the KHL since appearing in 2 games with the Rangers back in 2016/17. 92 career NHL games.
