2023-24 Players Leaf fans want I think

Created by: Britishbulldog
Team: 2023-24 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 26, 2023
Published: Jul. 26, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The goal is simply to get the 2 LTIR contracts which are INSURED allowing low revenue, non-playoff teams to be able to take them on so that we can accumalate Cap Space to add depth at the TDL.

The rest of the ACGM is to have fun.

Also...Why the panic in some of these ACGM for EK65 when we have a younger, bigger, cheaper, "lite" version in Klingberg? Add Rielly to the Leafs d corp and a superstar affensive D like EK is probably not the best thing to spend precious assets on.... as incredible as he is as a player.

If Domi scores 20+ goals then next summer he should get Bunting's contract of $4.5 MIL. If Tippet can match his last year totals then I could see him worth Rackell's $5.0 MIL. I would hate to see Matthew's Bertuzzi or Lafferty get any pay raise without reaching the ECF.

The D corp can be improved next summer with Brodie's $5 MIL coming off the books.

Tre would just be asking to be fired by bringing that NSH trade to the higher ups.

Let Schenn walk and then reacquire him at a massive overpay? Like bye dude.

That's one way of getting players to never sign a contract in NSH again. I have a funny feeling Trotz would decline this proposal...

Don't worry, Nashville is the only team who thought giving Schenn 2.75 million was a good idea. No chance anyone is going to trade for him now.

We're going to miss him though. Although $2.75 MIL x 3 years is an overpay obviously. Having Jeannot, Maroon, Perry and all yelling at the Leafs bench and Schenn just leaning against the boards between the benchs was priceless.

Dubas investing draft picks and undrafted signings on players 5'10" and smaller was frustrating to say the least. Beefing up the forwards and defence is a must as well as seeing the current Leaf stars play with snot.

It's okay to say you miss him, you don't need to lash out. We'll grant you visiting rights, promise.

No just fun. The key is dumping the to unsured LTIR contracts to get some Cap Space for the TDL.

I am not sure who on the current Leaf D corp is going to replace Schenn's role...that's all.

I would be happy to have him on a 3 year deal but only if he was making 1.25 or less. This is going to look really bad really quick

Liljegren, for now and a cheap addition at the deadline. Also giving Nylander away for a 3rd and a bottom 6 nobody is just ridiculous. Hilarious that you chirp Dubas while making a truly horrifying trade.

AZ would take on 2 LTIR and give up a bottom 6 young power C and a bottom pair physical D for a undersized 21yo D prospect and a undersize 24 yo AHLer W. This trade helps TML tremendously and I dont see how helps AZ at all. If you want someone to take your LTIRs you have to have a sweetner or be below floor (AZ is not close).

I was shocked that Schenn not only got a 3 year deal but that Trotz gave him $2.75 MIL. I think without exaggeration Luke Schenn is going to match his previous 9 years combined.

You noticed my disdain for Nylander too. For the amazing skill I really HATE how he avoids any contact. If he walks I will be relieved in one way and angry in another. I have never had a Leaf player in the last 50 years that I have been this bi-polar about.

I found it almost as bad as Erik Gudbranson's $4 MIL x 4 year contract last summer.

I don't think it will, not for NSH anyway. The completion of Schenn's contract lines up with the completion of Sissons, McDonagh, Lauzon, and the retention on Ekholm. This opens up a little more than 14.5 million at the exact time we're going to have to sign bridge deals/new deal with the likes of Svechkov, Kemell, Schaefer, Lind, L'Heureux, Molendyk, and Matier. Not to mention the projected jump of the cap likely means the last year of this contract will have a minimal impact even at full face value.

Schenn was in the AHL very recently, to think he isn't going to fall back to earth is hopelessly optimistic. He may be your worst defenceman immediately.

Yea it's definitely a bit rich but I don't think it's going to have a negative impact on NSH.

I am still a Leaf's fan...quite disgruntled after over 50 years though. This summer was the 1st time in a while it felt like Harold Ballard again. I have almost given up hope that the Leafs will ever figure out how to make it all the way to the Stanley Cup victory ever again now that there is more than 6 teams.

31 GMs know TML are in cap hell (even w murray LTIR) and arent going to give favors to help them out. after ANA sign zegres, drysdale and terry everyone is over the floor, lessening LTIR needs.

He's going to be the same player Leaf fans were swooning about when he was acquired by TOR.

Happy to have him, then a couple comments later he's going to be NSHs worst defenceman. Can you decide on your opinion of him?

Getting rid of Dubas was a mistake and one I think that will prove very costly
