That is too much from buffalo.

2 recent firsts drafted 14th and 16th overall, a 1st and a 2nd for 2 years of konecny? We also don't need to pay extra foe retention.

Just not reasonable

Caps pass. That trade doesn't do anything for them. Only reason to trade for Mantha is to make room for a young top 6 addition.

I would consider the Hanifin trade if the sweetener coming back to Calgary was a bit better. Interesting idea though, hadn’t thought of that before

Yes,
the BUF trade is an overpay from an earlier thread is definitely one PHI would take, maybe take out the 2nd.
The Hanifan trade, if PHI adds a 2nd instead of a 4th, would work (PHI will get a 2nd for Jay OBrien compensation, so they'll have 2) maybe. Hanifan would be a good add, and PHI would resign him.
The Mantha deal is superfluous and doesn;t really benefit either side.

However without that Mantha deal, you'd have 11mil in free cap, so could take a salary dump and also get a UFA - RD if need be, (Matt Dumba for 5mil)

The Sabres fan who posted that one may not believe in Ostlund and Rosen. For some reason

The Flames are a team that have had at least 6 players over the last season say they do not want to sign and stay there. Sanheim is from Manitoba and has played for the Stampede, so I bet he would jump at the chance to move home (regardless of what he says in the media). Finding players who want to be in CGY has been difficult, and now you get one under contract for 8 years, who is in his prime, and really had one down year trying to learn a new system. If you get the 21'22 version of him, it's a steal, especially with the cap going up next year and in the years to come.

You also wouldn't just be losing Hanifin for nothing since cap space isn't really a problem right now for you. And I wouldn't mind the 4th being switched for a second round pick, so now you're adding to draft capital as well.

CGY should definitely accept that deal.

I would be fine taking out the 2nd and switching it for a 4th in the BUF trade to narrow the gap further.

I would also be fine in making the pick to CGY a third, but second if it's a dealbreaker.

I think the Mantha trade helps WAS with their cap issues, while also adding two minimal AAV's who are NHL players and have shown they have ability. Bringing Mantha in, I'm hoping, is a change of scenery move, where there is not a lot of initial pressure or tough assignments where Mantha can try and channel what he had with DET a few years ago. The Flyers have the cap space the next two years and then the cap goes up. If Mantha turns it around, great, if not, he walks. Win Win.

Allison may be that, who knows. You get a large salary of your books and plug in two NHLer's with minimum contracts who can play in your bottom 6/bottom pairing. What's not to like about this?

Why do they want a 27 year old signed into his mid 30's. Brutal contract

I agree the CGY deal makes alot of sense and gives them a good base of 3 dmen, all 28 yrs old or less, long term to either add vets or kids to, and allows them some stability to work on their forwards. The 2nd rounder, if thats what PHI adds would either be CBJ (high in the round) or the compensatory pick PHI gets (Jay OBrien). Maybe Hanifan gets a 1st and 2nd and a good midlevel prospect (ala Orlov) at TDL, but that doesn;t help for 2-3 years, while you're waiting for those guys to arrive, while guys like Kadri, Huberdeau, Wolf, Coronato are just waiting? and it still leaves CGY defense with just Rasmus and Weegar?

If Im CGY I do this deal, re-sign Zadorov in off season, (or Kylington in his make or break year, so maybe he plays well and you re-sign him and let Zadorov walk), but thats a solid defense with Weegar, Rasmus, Sanheim and Zadorov and bring up a kid or 2 next year and add a solid vet, and thats CGY defense looking pretty solid for the next 3 years with a fairly reasonable cap structure spread through the defense.

PHI is banking on Hanifan re-signing reasonably and CGY is banking on Sanheim rounding back into form

So it solves alot of worries on the defense AND it acquires a player who wants to be there.

Manitoba is nowhere near Calgary. He played for the hitmen 10 years ago, which hardly qualifies as being a destination for him. He's also 27 and signed for 8 years at 6.25MM. Calgary doesn't need more deals for players past their prime diminishing into their 30s. They would be better of trading Hanifin for futures and utilizing cap space.

What I was trying to point out is he is from Canada and would be a player that may not mind playing there when so many other players have been so vocal about getting out of Canada. He actually played there 7 years ago and he has said he loves the team and the city of Calgary.

You say diminishing but he has had really one bad year and it was in Torts system, a system that everyone knows some players get, and some don't. You guys should be lucky someone spoke glowingly about CGY because you certainly and clearly are no longer a destination. When Hanifin, Zadarov, and the rest of your team jump ship, you're gonna be hoping you have a guy like Sanheim on your team that can eat minutes and do something with the puck from the backend.

Good luck.

It won't be a brutal contract when the cap goes up and he is a dman who is capable of playing in all situations but had one down year and people are ready to write him off. In 2-3 years this contract could be a steal if he rounds back into 21-22 form.

Well let me tell ya, Mantha hasn't been it either and he's taking up 5.7m of your cap. If you're trying to contend, getting rid of the whole cap for two players, one a young one who may do something, to go after other players who fit would be better for your team. if neither seeler or allison don't work out, you bury them in the minors.

Again, what's not to like?

so essentially 3 1sts and 2nd for Konecny? you know how silly that sounds right? Dude had 1 really good year. Rosen and a 1st for Konecny is penty.

Again everything. Mantha is much better than both of them. Can't wait for this season to start so people can finally see how great Mantha is. Just needs a coach that doesn't hate him. The only way this trade makes sense is if Caps have another trade to bring in that young top 6 talent. But as of now the Caps and Bears are stacked so neither of those players fit.

If you read the description, it was a trade made by a fellow BUF fan - without the retention, which I added in to close the gap. Talk to your own people, they obv value the players less than you.

Yeah, can't wait to see how good he is - 118 g played as a Cap, has 58 points, for a grand total of .49p/g. In 11 PO games with the caps, he has 0 goals and 6 assists. Really good player you got there.

didn't say he was great, I said he is a solid dman who would want to come to CGY, when a lot of your players don't wanna be there. The CGY coach or GM or whoever said they want guys that wanna be there. He isn't bad at all either, and if the Flyers were in a different position, then I'd have zero qualms keeping him. But a rebuilding team who may not even begin to contend for a playoff spot for another 2 years or so, doesn't need a 26 y/o, in his prime, dman with an 8 year contract.
